Four Films Starring Kenneth Branagh, Patrick Dempsey, Jennifer Connelly, Christopher Walken, Bridget Fonda, Scott Baio And More Arrive February 12

LOS ANGELES, CA – Four hilariously entertaining comedies, Peter’s Friends, Some Girls, Touch and Zapped!, make their DVD debut on February 12, 2008 from MGM Home Entertainment. Old college friends get together and share laughter, tears, nostalgia and make new discoveries, all the while making absolute fools of themselves in the British comedy Peter’s Friends, directed by four-time Academy Award® nominee Kenneth Branagh, written by comedian Rita Rudner and starring an ensemble cast including Branagh (Henry V), Academy Award®-winner Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility), Golden Globe® nominee Stephen Fry (Wilde) and Golden Globe®-winner Hugh Laurie (“House M.D.”), among others. The funny, touching and irreverent romantic comedy Some Girls follows Golden Globe® nominee Patrick Dempsey (“Grey’s Anatomy”) as Michael, who travels to Canada to visit his girlfriend Gabriella, played by Academy Award®-winner Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind), only to discover some unexpected and bizarre twists about her family that force him into an exploration of love and relationships.

Golden Globe® nominated writer-director Paul Shrader (Taxi Driver) brings Elmore Leonard’s satiric novel to the screen with Touch, a comic lampoon on the American evangelism industry featuring Skeet Ulrich (“Jericho”), Bridget Fonda (Lake Placid), Christopher Walken (Hairspray) and Tom Arnold (True Lies). A teenage science nerd gains telekinetic powers in the classic screwball comedy Zapped! starring 80’s heartthrob Scott Baio, along with his later “Charles in Charge” co-star, Willie Aames.

Each of the Contemporary Comedies DVDs will be available individually for the suggested retail price of $14.98 U.S. / $15.98 Canada.

PETER’S FRIENDS (1992)

Seven friends in an acting troupe graduate from Cambridge University in 1982 and go their separate ways. Ten years later, Peter inherits a large estate from his father, and invites the rest of the gang to spend New Year's holiday with him. Many changes have taken place in the lives of all the friends assembled, but Peter has a secret that will shock them all.

SOME GIRLS (1988)

Michael, a college student, visits his girlfriend Gabriella and her family for Christmas in Canada. When he gets there, she tells him that she doesn't love him any more. Meanwhile, her family is exceedingly strange: her father is a writer who spends most of his time wandering the house nude. Her grandmother mistakes Michael for her dead husband. Her two sisters express interest in him. Granny escapes the hospital and heads back to her home in the woods, and the family chases after her, and Michael is kept reeling.

TOUCH (1997)

With the discovery of Juvenal, a miracle healer, evangelist turned RV dealer Bill Hill envisions riches. He manages to snare Juvenal with the help of a former associate, Lynn Faulkner. However, Hill's plans of book deals and TV talk show visits hits a snag when Lynn falls for Juvenal and has second thoughts about exploiting him. With this new situation, another thorn in Hill's side arrives in the form of the Reverend August Murray, who sees Lynn as a corrupting influence on Juvenal and is determined to free him of her.

ZAPPED! (1982)

Peyton and Barney are fun loving high school students working on a science project with white mice. When one of the mice begins to move food toward itself with out touching it, Barney finds he has accidentally discovered a formula for telekinetic powers. Now, how much trouble can a high school boy who can move things with just his mind get into?

I'm guessing Scott Baio and Willie Aames aren't going to get together anytime soon to do a commentary track.

This was one hell of a movie, though. I love the idea...cheesy but cool. Who wouldn't like to zap Heather Thomas' shirt up? ;)

I wish they would just patch things up already. I mean, Scott Baio did credit Willie Aames as something like "King of the Playboy"...I mean, he credit Willie higher than him and that's saying something. Forgot about the religious ordeal Willie went through and just make up already...

What is the feud going on between these two?

It's about time! :woohoo: This movie has been on my want list for years. Last time I saw it was on TBS over 5 years ago, back when they aired cool '80's movies late at night.

Also it's nice to see Some Girls coming out on DVD. While I wouldn't call it a great movie or anything, it's always good to hear about movies from the 80's finally coming out on DVD. There's still quite a few movies from that decade that I wish they'd release on DVD, but I won't hold my breath.

Whatever happened to Heather Thomas post-Fall Guy, anyway??

I think it was due to the fact with Willie Aames becoming religious all of a sudden and they were distancing themselves in a 100 episode award show by celebrating CIC, according to Michael Pearlman, who was there as well. I think as Willie Aames' Christianity took a whole of him, the more they seem not to share the same likes as they did before. They use to go the Playboy mansion together. They had the same likes and dislikes as well. I mean, that seem like a perfect friendship. He is credited by Baio for being such a famous man at the Playboy mansion, at least. It is such a shame it did not last at all. While since Scott Baio is not a religious man, though what does that cross around his neck stand for? I mean, I wish Scott reunite with Willie instead living with that snake, Johnny V. I guess he was the reason also for most of Scott's breakups. For some reason, I don't think he was even mentioned in Scott Baio is 45 and Single...and it is a crying shame he doesn't at least give credit to Willie at all. But whatever floats in Scott's boat, I believe.

Glad to hear that Zapped is finally coming to DVD! I've been waiting years for this one. This hasn't yet been mentioned on the DVD news sites that I frequent, so this info is a pleasant surprise.

Thanks for posting this, Pavan!

I thought I heard that those were not Heather's breasts but a stand in posed for that shot. It could be a different movie though since they sometimes do stand ins for women who don't want to appear topless or for women who just don't look that great topless.

Heather Thomas in Zapped has got to be the hottest women ever. I still haven't seen any woman who looks as good as she did in their prime.

Yeah, it was a stand-in for her in that scene.

Got it on DVD...:) Still love it. It's so corny....but it is a true 80s guilty pleasure.

mmmm Heather Thomas. When I was a kid this was the greatest "adult" movie in the world. (when your 10.... teen movies seem adult). I was so in love with her in this. To this day when my sister does something wrong I yell "Barney Boner-Head" ... (if you've seen this movie enough you'll get the line)
