What are YOUR choices as the greatest Christmas albums EVER? (You can name more than one)

My first nomination is the 1966 Burl Ives Classic "Holly Jolly Christmas", reissued annually for 40 years (it can be found on CD now.....but i have the original 33 LP), Burl Ives' smokey "folk" sound never seems to get old; somehow, he just seemed to BE Xmas for a whole generation!

One I can think of right off the bat is Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)

Here's one for Canadian country fans...Wilf Carter, Christmas in Canada (It's much better than you'd think)....If the name Wilf Carter doesnt ring a bell, in order to hide his Canadian roots, in the USA, this one time country mega-star was called "Montana Slim" (This is actually one of my fave Xmas albums)

as a fan of all things 80's, this collection wows. Madonna, U2, Pointer Sisters, Sting, Stevie Nicks, Whitney Houston, The Pretenders, Eurythmics, Springsteen and many others all at the height of their careers.

The Time-Life Treasury of Christmas collection has all the classics, by the original artists. I sent away for the album over 20 years ago, and now have the CD. It's all you need for your traditional Christmas songs.

There's a CD I love that I bought about 7 years ago at Big Lots; it's called Pop & Soul Holiday Hits. It has the following:

"Let it Snow" - Boyz II Men*
"Christmas Time" - Bryan Adams
"Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" - Jackson 5*
"What Child Is This?" - The Moody Blues
"Baby It's Cold Outside" - Vanessa Willams*
"Hot Christmas" - Squirrel Nut Zippers
"Give Love On Christmas Day" - Johnny Gill
"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" - Brian McKnight*
"Everybody Knows The Claus" - Hanson
"Silent Night" - The Temptations*

*=absolute fave tracks

Heres a CD I picked up for cheap a few years ago....Its a live recording of a radio show Bing did some time in the early 60s (I think) , Bing and family singing Xmas favorites, how can you go wrong?

Despite the cheesy cover, this is actually one of the best Xmas albums ever made, especially if you like your carols as close to "church music" as possible...all the songs are instrumental with a church pipe organ and chimes that sound much like carillion bells......this is my fave Xmas album to play ON the holiday evening.

He was great, as was his successor, John Williams.
