This is truly is effing ridiculous! The power went off for about five seconds, and my DirectTV never came back on! Everyone else's DirectTV came back on immeadiately, and my effing DirectTv has been off for over a month! it's rediculous for a short power outage my DirecTtv never came back on! When I called to complain, they kept me on hold for an absurd amount of time,so I hang up! if it weren't for my collection of DVDs(which i am getting rapidly tired of watching over and over) I'd march right to the DirectTv center and make them fix my directTv in my room! (and also if it weren't for my fear that they might charge me an absurd amount of money to fix my DirectTV).

You mean your receiver won't come on?

When you hate your cable/satellite company, just be thankful you aren't with Dish Network/Bell ExpressVu.

When I had a problem with my box they sent me a new one the next day. Last week a tree fell on a power line and our power was out for about 8 hrs and when the power came back on my box came back on without any problem.

Are you having a problem with your box or the service?

DirectTv is coming to my house today, 1-5 to fix the problem!:D :happyface (I've found out what the problem is, through DirectTv Technical support). The problem was: The five-second power outage knocked out permanently 52 percent of the satellite signals for my TV. That was why I didn't get my TV view back. The other TV's in the house have 98 percent signals. 98 percent is a lot better than 48. I have roughly half of 98 percent.

They fixed the problem for around $80.00. The problem was that the box had a problem, and they gave us a new one. I was tired of watching a dead box anyway, so i am glad I can watch my DirectTV again in my room, instead of watching DirectTV in other rooms. (This was really unconvienient when i wanted to watch something at 4:AM and had to go into another room to watch it. No more :) )

All I know is I HATED having Direct TV. It never worked right. A single cloud made me lose tv. It was so incredibly pathetic. I'm so glad I'm on digital cable now.

i've had dish network for like 7 years. I've had less outages than when i had cable. The cable company in my area is incompetent. I had them come in to give me their top tier cable package. After 5 hours I had ripped their crap out and hooked the dish back up. The picture they had was snowy, and that was with their "all-digital" package. Dish hardly goes out for me. If it's a really heavy rain or snow it will go out, but i would say if that happens 6 times a year, that's alot. I would imagine it would vary for people depending on where they live and how the install was done. Not to mention, dish is cheaper than cable in my area.
