Thanks to N@N I've been watching HI a lot lately. It got me thinking though- was there ever any mention of Wilson ever working or having a real job on the show? I couldn't imagine he would be retired (didn't look/seem that old). Seems weird that he wouldn't work and just do weird things in his backyard and give advice to Tim.

We've talked about this before. We're not sure he has a job. He's mentioned that he never goes out of his house at times, but one time we saw Tim helping Wilson with the groceries, which means he must go out at times. Plus, he has to make money somehow, right?

He was a retired college professor.
Remember the episode where Wilson tells his stories to an audience of college kids at a cafe and the write did not like Wilson's stories, but the kids seem to love his stories.
The kids called him Dr. Wilson and he told Tim after the event was over and in their yards that he used to be a professor.
He also told the professor lady Jill set him up with he used to be a professor himself.
Hope that clears things up.

He did that as volunteer(spelling). When Tim saw him at a hospital once, when one of his kids had an accident and Wilson said no I volunteer here.
He also volunteered at the hopsice place randy went to help out at.
Wilson volunteered at alot of places.

On the episode where Wilson wins 10 grand at the hockey game, it was mentioned that he was low on funds and really needed it.

One time, Tim had a DREAM about Wilson being in the
operating room. But Wilson was a trained midwife.

I rarely watch "Home Improvement" so humor me. Wilson is the next door neighbor, right? I wasn't sure what his name was. Just last week I caught a hilarious epsiode where he was chosen as the director for Randy's play. They were doing Romeo and Juliet. OMG, it was hysterical how they were purposely showing only the top half of Wilson's face; like they did with the fence. I remember watching the very last episode and seeing how they "revealed" his full face during the final curtain call. I remember he recruited Tim to do all the sets for the play and then didn't liket the way they were put together. Anyway, I wish I knew the name of the episode that I'm refering to above. That was the only time I can remember them mentioning any type of job for Wilson.

Wilson was a Volunteer for most of his life. He's also a high priest on almost every religion on the planet. His cousins are also the Beach Boys, and even though Brian Wilson wasn't with them I'm sure that both Brian and Wilson would work on the album SMiLE.

Wilson wrote a book on one occasion, so he is also an author.
