Does anyone put up their Christmas Tree & Decorations over the Thanksgiving weekend? Or do you wait until closer to Christmas?

I'm planning on putting up my 2 table top trees saturday. I have more time to do it this weekend since we have 4 days off.

We normally put ours up today and take it down on Christmas, but my 3 yr old niece is coming Dec. 27th so we have to keep it up longer, I'm hoping we get it up first of December at least

I bet your little neice has a great time visiting you. Its so much fun when there's little ones around for Christmas. My son's 16 so its not quite the same.

Do you get a real live tree that close to Christmas? My sister-in-law puts her up the week before Christmas and takes it down on New Years Day, she gets a real tree.

My family tradition has always been to put it up either the day before or the day after Thanksgiving (depending on if relatives were coming over for dinner or whatnot).

Being my first Christmas alone, though, I decided I wasn't going to put any decorations up (though I have a ton 'cause I normally go overboard). My parents didn't like this, though, so today they surprised me with a small, silver, fiber optic tree.

Those fiber optic trees are pretty too, my mother-in-law got a small one last year. And all she does is plug it in.

Do you put up an artificial tree too or do you get a real live tree? The real trees smell so good but they turn brown and shed the needles if you put them up too early.

Realistic artificial one :) (it folds up, so it's wrapped in a plastic bag for the summer, then, you just take off the bag and let the branches settle into place)

Awww how sweet of your parents. I am sure it is hard on you these holidays. Hang in there. Put just a few things around. :bighug:

I kinda feel blah abt putting up decorations myself but my boyfriend says he loves the Christmas feel and the love I put into decorating, so I guess I will do the whole "take out the boxes out of storage" next weekend.

My dad won't let us put the tree up until the first week of December and mom takes it down Christmas night or the day after Christmas. My parents are bah humbugs when it comes to the tree, lol.

Christmas lights go up a week before Thanksgiving (We put a lot up so we start working on them early. We don't turn them on until Thanksgiving night.).
Christmas tree/inside decorations usually go up the day after Thanksgiving but we haven't been able to find a good, tall, healthy looking one this year. We will be putting one up today though (if we can't find one we'll pull out a few of our artificial ones) and we don't take it down until 2-3 days after New Year's (they always last :))

The tree usually goes up the Saturday following Thanksgiving- which is technically today, since it's after midnight.

But we have company coming over so it's going to have to wait until next Saturday.

Growing up, getting the tree was so damn exciting. Now, as an adult, and since I have to do the work, it is no longer fun but a chore. I end up putting all the decorations on it (after my boyfriend helps put the lights on it) and I end up taking all the stuff off of it. Time consuming. :faint:

I normally like to have it up the last week of November since I decorate so extensively, but I'm afraid I won't be putting one up at all this year. It's going to be a really weird and awful Christmas. I've just been trying to put it right out of my mind. Looking forward to next year.....

I cant wait to put mine up on saturday, people moan about it being a pain with getting it all out putting it up, but we all have to do it, plus i do it all myself although i might invite a few friends here this year, stick the christmas songs on and have a glass of wine! :)

I bought this small 18" silver tree in 2005 and used it during the last two years. This year, I am thinking of buying one that is a little larger. I think I want to finally get more into that Christmas spirit. I am tired of feeling depressed every year around this time.
