Those Darn Lifetime Message Boards

I just went over there to see what everyone thinks of the show. First, what kind of message board is that? Frankly, it stinks.
Second, every other post is about lesbians! I, for one, would hate for them to go this way too obvious route. I would have to stop watching the show if they made one of them a lesbian. That wouldn't go down well in this household.

It wouldn't exactly be welcome at my house either. My dad would probably make me stop watching the show, they'd probably lose a lot of viewers if they did that.

The message boards at Lifetime are horrible. The whole lesbian issue is a double edged sword because people are going to complain for the show being set in San Francisco and not having a lesbian in the main cast or for being stereotypical by having a lesbian in the main cast because it is San Francisco. It's a no win situation. Personally, if they are going to do a lesbian storyline I hope they go a different route then the same storyline that is constantly being used on show after show, which is why I hope it is not anyone in the current cast. It's getting old and tiresome watching a character after some emotional turmoil decide they are gay. It seems like every show goes this route and I hope The Division doesn't fall into this trap. If they do decide on this storyline it would be better in my opinion to bring on a character who knew they were lesbian/gay to begin with and watch how they deal with it in the work environment. The Division doesn't need anymore characters though. I just want to watch a well-written show with good acting and for the most part The Division is that.

Wow. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the idea of "we have to be politically correct and have homosexuals on every show" is getting tiresome. I don't think I can say it any better than lesliem14.

I think everyone's arguments that there should be a lesbian has more to do than just it being set in San Fran - statistically speaking, there is a large number of lesbian cops out there... I know a couple of Chicago's finest who are lesbians. I think that the gay community feels that showing gay diversity in the workforce is just as important as the African-American community feels about showing that a black woman can do the job.

I am deeply saddened that in 2001 that this is even a debate. For anyone who has a problem with seeing a homosexual on television, WHO CARES?!?! Why is it even still an issue anymore?

Sorry, I'm going to get off my soapbox now. I had a gay roommate for a year and witnessed alot of ignorant behavior twoards him because of his sexuality, so I am a little touchy on the subject.

Exactly - WHO CARES??? Why should there have to be a character like that on tv? If anything, the ones making an issue are the ones who are obsessing over there being a gay character. I have absolutely nothing against individuals who live that lifestyle,(in fact, a good friend of mine recently came out) but why should it be emphasized? I must say, I'm w/ Lesliam14 and Miller 15 on this issue and the whole "gotta be PC" thing. That's just my opinion, so thanx for listenin'.

I'm just happy that there is an ensemble woman show on the air depicting that we can do well in a man dominated field while also being able to handle our personal lives(ie. raising a child in a single parent environment). I myself am a straight single woman working in a 'man's field' and find the show to be rather refreshing after only two episodes.

It doesn't bother me that there are no lesbians on the show but if it were done in a non"Ellen" type way I would be ok with it. I just remember after Ellen came out of the closet in her sitcom the show just went downhill and she was always on her lesbian soapbox which just became boring to this viewer.

I just want to clarify my statement a bit...I have no problem with homosexuals at all. I think it's sad that this is even an issue. One side says that they're cops in SF, so one of them should be a lesbian. The other side says "I don't want to see all that, and I might stop watching...blah blah blah." Well, my attitude towards this is simply, who cares? If they decide to bring in a gay cop, fine, whatever. As long as the storylines don't revolve around it. Let me make an example of "Ellen." Very funny show. In fact, I think the "coming out" episode was one of the funniest TV episodes ever. But then the whole show started to revolve around Ellen's being gay. It just stopped being funny after a while. And when it comes to The Division, what would making one of the characters (or bringing in another one) gay do to or for the show? Nothing. Absolutley nothing. She'd be a gay detective. Big deal. So long as the show keeps up the caliber of writing as it has in it's short existence, I'm still going to watch it.

I completely agree! If they made one of the cops a lesbian I don't think I would neccesarily stop watching the show, unless it became completely centered on lesbianism. I can respect people who do want there to be a lesbian character, I may not agree but I still respect you.

The T, I find your post to be most insulting in nature. I'm a straight female who doesn't really care one way or another if a lesbian were to come onto the show, but your post is just flat out ignorant. If you don't agree with homosexuality, I really couldn't care less, but there are more intelligent ways to make your point without being rude.

i agree w/ who ever said that if they are going to bring a gay/lesbian on the show they should already know.Because personaly i don't think it is anyones bussnes what u r,let alone having to confront u'rself and deal w/ their bs. that doesn't mean i'm for homosexuality & hold a gruge against them it's just their desition but i don't dislike 'em. but if they make some1 gay or lesbian they should not have to deal w/ a lot of crap u normaly would.
but hay, that's just my opinion.
