She was nowhere near as, um, well-endowed as Laverne, so I guess she did!
I was watching the episode a few days ago and it just cracked me up when she wore it under her pajamas.

No Mikey... There is an episode where the girls purchased items from a company (kinda like the cheap version of Frederick's of Hollywood). Shirley purchased these huge fake plastic butt that one would wear underneath their skirt or pants-if they could fit under there-and Shirley wore this huge fake butt under her pajama pants... BABY GOT BACK INDEED! You could use that heiny as a table.
^ It looked hard as a rock. (lol!) It couldn't have been comfortable to wear for any length of time.

Big fake butts were extremely popular in the 1880s/90s, they were called "Bustles"! :D ( And they were BIG! )

that was the style in the 1880/90s it was called a honey bee figure, large breasts ( an illusion caused by the tiny waist), a pinched waist* and the bustle, resembling a bee's large posterior!!!
(*The waist was caused by a torture device called a "corset" which made the bustle seem comfortable, by compairison!)

I'm glad those things are not in style anymore!!!

Corsets do still appear on the naughty underwear market, but, they arent nearly as bad as the old Victorian type! (Even heavy women were expected to havea 15 inch waist) VVVVV
DISCLAIMER:
*Mikey is a historian in Victoriana, not a lady's underwear expert*

A lot of the corsets were made of whale bones.
