I starting watching HI in September 1991, when it debuted on ABC. I'd just started 6th grade and looked forward to watching it every week. I really did (and still do!) enjoy those early seasons. :D

I started watching it when it debuted all the way to the last episode. When it started, I was in 8th grade.

I saw some of it on the original ABC network run,and saw all the others when the show was syndicated on WGN,TBS and local stations.

I watched from the start. I actually didn't know anything about this show until, 3 days before the pilot premiered, after a fried told me she say previews for it, and it looked hilarious. So, I tuned in, and I was hooked ever since.
I watched almost religiously in the first 5 seasons. But by seasons 7 and 8, I could care less if I missed it or not, because it just wasn't the same as it was in the early seasons. I think I only watched 5 or 6 season 8 episodes when it was on. I did, however watch the finale, but it was one of the few series finales where I did not cry. I don't know why.

^ I could not agree with those observations more. For the first 4-5 seasons I never missed an episode. The later episodes, especially when they spent more and more time at that hardware store, were just boring to me. I also didn't care about the boys' social/love lives. Plus by that time, I was involved with activities in high school (and then college) so I had other things on my mind.
That said, I still really enjoy the first 4-5 seasons. They were and still are so much fun!! I'm so glad they are now available on DVD. :D

I don't rememeber when I started watching the show. I think I was in 3rd grade when it started. I remember watching it all the time in reruns. However a few years ago (before they stopped showing it on local stations all together) they moved it from FOX 61/WB 20 to UPN 59 and UPN 59 kept changing what time the show aired so I would get aggrivated. Plus one year UPN 59 aired the show at 11PM, but pre-empted it every Monday to show an extra newscast for those who didn't want to wait until the end of Monday Night Football on sister station WTNH. It was really stupid. They'd have News Channel 8 at 10 on UPN 59. Then NewsChannel 8 at 11 on UPN 59. Then they'd have News Channel 8 at 11 on WTNH at whatever time Monday Night Football ended.
Been watching HI regularly on TBS and Nick-at-Nite.

I started watching Home Improvement in 1995 when the Disney Channel launched here in the UK. It used to be on around 6.00 or 7.00pm, if I remember correctly. I know it was just after tea, anyway.

I watched it from the first episode in September 1991. That year's Fall Preview TVGuide made it seem like it would be a funny show - and they were right. I was hooked right from the beginning and was happy when it was renewed in late '92 for five seasons - that guaranteed it would be around long enough for syndication.
I'm not that much of a fan of sitcoms beyond 1980 - I think most of the classic ones aired before that - but Home Improvement's one of the best to come around in the past 20 years or so.
It hit syndication in 1995, while in its fifth season on ABC. One thing I don't get it why syndicators these days don't feed the shows in order. It started with the Cosby Show in 1988 that reruns are fed via satellite, and the syndicator can decide the order. I'd rather have them go chronologically than the current practice of bouncing around.

I think I started watching Home Improvement frequently around 2002 in syndication on channels like FOX, UPN, TBS, and WGN Superstation.
I still catch it on TV from time to time nowadays.

early seasons were the best.seems like a lot of shows the early seasons are the best and ones with long runs seem to sorta repeat the stories from time to time with different varitaions or earlier ones

I agree on the post 80 stuff. Compared to the 70s there's more from then to are better than anything combined post 1980. For me the same goes for crime drama too. i'd rather watch 70s cop/detective shows from the 70s then all the high tech shows like csi, ncis etc..Also the hospital shows to from then, marcus welby, medical center trapper john

I saw bits of HI here and there when I was little, but I didn't start watching on a regular basis when I was 13 (2004), discovered it randomly on cable.
Became hooked, but stopped watching when the network only played the first 3 seasons, which are the better ones IMO.

It was 1995 when I got into that show.
We would watch that show religiously until 1998 when it got a little more dramatic...now I just want to watch those shows again!

I began enjoying this show when it aired a few years ago on Nick At Nite. I saw that it was in syndication when I was a kid but it just never caught my interest until I was older.

It's fun finding a "new" show you like after it's in syndication. You don't have to wait for new episodes to air week after week.
I watched in their original airings from the first season until Randy left. I caught an episode from time to time after that. I was mostly interested in Jonathan Taylor Thomas though, so when he left there was no point in me watching. :)
