"I don't want to sound rude or anything and want to say this in a pleasant way but I really have no interest in hearing about this"

I said this to a Girl who was telling me about another guy she just went on a date with and I just could no longer keep listening to it. So the convo turned sour and we were arguing.

So do you think it's hard to keep talking to someone if they told you in a nice way they don't want to hear anymore of what you are talking about?

And were you shocked that the convo turned sour?

Next time just change the topic......Say "Hold on" go get something to drink, go to the bathroom, then when you get back on the phone and change the topic.

But you didn't tell me what was wrong with what I said

I never said that you said anything wrong, I think there was a better way of going about it so that the conversation wouldn't have ended in an argument.

Like saying “Lets talk about something else”

Although you tried to be polite by saying you didn't want to be rude, it came off as a slap in the face. You need to learn to word your sentences more carefully.

If you can't see why and how that is, then you never will. But take heart! I find myself unintentionally offending people with my words all the time.

You seem like the kind of guy that needs to be understood. If people don't understand you, then you'll get reactions all the time...I bet you already do, just from what I've seen around here. Like Max Whittaker said, if you don't get it now you probably never will, but just keep trying. That's the important thing. Just keep trying to be say it right and trying to be polite. People will understand that you are trying, and those close to you will come to understand you. I don't think you particularly said anything wrong, you were just so blunt and laid it right out there. People have to get used to that in you, because most people aren't like that. Most people don't say it like it is because they're afraid of hurting people's feelings or afraid it will make people mad at them like the girl became at you.

I don't think it's a very nice thing to say, but there are some people out there who really need to hear it. Some people seem to prefer having a captive audience instead of a conversation and don't recognize nonverbal social cues, like the listener's boredom.

I had a friend who would blather on and on about herself and all the mundane details about her daily life and would never let other people get a word in. Any subtle attempt to change the conversation went unnoticed. I stopped listening to her after awhile.

Usually i would just let someone go on bout something but I never will hold the phone to listen to a female talk about ANOTHER GUY's ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Why? Is it Jealousy?

No why do I need to know? It's unnecessary Info and I don't plan on dating him so I don't need to know if he has a nice car and makes a lot of money.

just like you wouldn't need to hear that another girl has a nice house, nice car, sexy eyes and a nice butt

It sounds like this is all about Jealousy, the poor girl is just talking to a friends (you) about someone's she's interested in. I have no problem with hearing my guy friends talk about their girlfriends, and I don't have a problem hearing about my girlfriends new jobs or cars that they have brought.

I don't know if I explained myself clearly, the GIRL was someone I met on a telphone dating service a week ago and we exchange pics and were going to meet sometime this week. So she was telling me about a date she had recently and instead of telling me why she wasn't inteerested in him, she went on about what he drove and what he had and I wasn't interested in hearing it. So that's why I said to her "I DON"T HAVE ANY INTEREST IN THIS" So she kind of got an attitude and she pretty much took herself out of the running to go on a date with me. When I said that I was expecting her to say-"OH MY BAD, I DIDN"T REALIZE I WAS TALKING TOO MUCH ABOUT HIM" But when she got a ATTITUDE instead that made me think she was kind of interested in him and I saw no point in calling her again.

Nowhere in your description of this whole thing did you ever say that you were trying to date the girl. And when the girl was talking about all the things that the guy had, all you had to do was to say in a PLAYFUL tone "So you're one of this materialistic type of girl." And then the conversation would have been turned around to where she would have had to talk about herself.

I will admit I'm not good in saying the right things when a woman goes on and on about another guy. I get easily irritated

True, true, true...that would really irritate me if I was talking to a guy I wanted to date and that's what he was talking about.
