Wouldn’t it be nice if all TV writers had an alternate season finale for their show stored away just in case the network decides to cancel the series? It certainly would’ve been great if Veronica Mars had ended with some kind of satisfying conclusion to the series. Fortunately for Jericho fans, the producer of this already almost-cancelled show has a back-up ending set aside, should CBS decide to cancel it.
When is Jericho coming back? We wish we could tell you. According to TVGuide.com, the series is supposed to premiere this January but the actual date is still up in the air. TV Guide also reported that Jericho executive producer Carol Barbee shot an alternate ending to the yet-to-be-aired second season. That way, if CBS cancels the series, viewers wont be left hanging (as they almost were when CBS tried to cancel the show last spring).
Barbee told TV Guide, “The ending that we planned was always meant to be a payoff for the seven-episode arc. It won't close off the whole story but it will show you where we would go in a third season. It gives you a huge mythology so that you understand so much about what has happened.”
Stock up on nuts, Jericho fans! It’s always good to be prepared.
