I was watching the Biography Channel last night and the episode was the life on Tina Turner. In the first ten minutes of the show, Bonnie Bramlett who played Bonnie Sheridan on ROSEANNE as Roseanne's co-worker and friend, appeared and talked abt her career as being the FIRST WHITE IKETTE. She sang back-up vocals for the Ike and Tina Turner Revue. She was made to wear dark make-up and due to her sweating profusely on stage from performing and the hot lights, the make-up would streak. I knew she had a great musical career and still works in the music industry, I just never knew this abt her.

For those who didn't know, she also co-wrote with Leon Russell the number 1 hit for The Carpenters, "SUPERSTAR". One of the most beautiful songs ever. KUDOS TO BONNIE!!!!!

Here is her official website which talks abt her career:

Bonnie was born in Alton, Illinois, and grew up in East St. Louis. At 14, she was allowed to sing on Gaslight Square, a St. Louis nightclub area much like the French Quarter in New Orleans. She was groomed by the best - Jazz greats Stan Getz, The Quartet Tres Bien, Herbie Mann, Miles Davis, and Nat and Cannonball Adderly gave her a musical foundation par excellent. But it was her love for rhythm and blues that brought her to the attention of Albert King and Little Milton. She made musical history as the first white Ikette for Ike and Tina Turner.

When she expanded her career and moved to Los Angeles in 1967, she met Delaney Bramlett and married him seven days later. Delaney & Bonnie & Friends shared the stage with "Friends" that included Eric Clapton, Leon Russell, George Harrison, Dave Mason, Rita Coolidge, Gram Parsons, and John Lennon to name just a few. A complete list of collaborations both in songwriting and performance reads like a history of Rock and Roll. They released five outstanding albums. Their first release was DELANEY & BONNIE/HOME on Stax Records. Hit singles such as "Soul Shake," "Never Ending Song of Love," and "Only You Know & I Know" kept them on the charts. The duo broke up personally and professionally in 1973. Her songwriting credits include "Superstar" (nominated for a Grammy in 1972), and "Give Peace a Chance," both co-written with Leon Russell.

I read that years ago. I believe her daughter Bekka briefly replaced Stevie Nicks in Fleetwood Mac in the late '80s/early '90s.

Really? I never knew that abt her daughter either. Gee, what am I missing here?

I have always loved the Bonnie character. Too bad she wasn't on the show more.

I read on a couple of music sites that Bekka Bramlett sang on the 1995 Fleetwood Mac album Time, and was in the group from 1994-1996.

Here is my favorite music review site, and I think you'd enjoy it, too, Salt Sister: http://warr.org

I remember her contributions in the '70's, but I didn't know about her being an Ikette! Delaney and Bonnie had a big hit called "Never Ending Song of Love" when I was in about 7th grade. We thought she was pretty cool.

I loved her waitress role on Roseanne and she blew everyone away when she sang "You've Really Got a Hold On Me" at the barbecue. She and David Crosby were great together too with their bluesy duet. I liked her attitude and energy on the show. She was a perfect friend/co-worker for Roseanne.

Oh yes, her rendition of that song made me love that song even more. NOW, when I hear that song I always remember Bonnie singing it. Her voice is beautiful. It is not your typical songstress voice, it is different. It is edgy. I love it.
