The voice of Uncle Tex was HAL SMITH.
He also made a career of recreating voices of actors who had died or gave their permission when they did not want to do it themselves -- Ludwig Von Drake, Jiminy Cricket, Goofy, and Elmer Fudd. (Paul Frees, Cliff "Ukelele Ike" Edwards, Pinto Colvig, and Arthur Q.Bryan-Mel Blanc of course and some othnbers tried to recreate Fudd's voice being a Warner Bros.superstar..)
And besides Uncle Tex Hal Smith (1917-1994) did other voices for Hanna-Barbera cartoons and also plyaed drunk Otis on Andy Griffith and played on (the LIVE ACTION) "The Brady Bunch" another time (as, coincidentally, a cartoon king in that one where Peter or Bobby has an inferioirty complex) in 1971, second or third season.(Other cartoon voices like Al Melvin (Magilla, and Sam the Butcher) were on Brady and possibly even Mel Blanc as the pets and other TV shows..forget Thurston Howell--Gilligan had a number of voice actors in guest roles, even Blanc and Sterling Holloway. But back to the Flinstones).
Hal Smith played dopey Goliath to Dick Beals (and Nancy Wible and Norma MacMillan's) Davey of "Davey and Goliath" and did many other things like narrating a Bambi album for Disney, for instance. He did that southern colonel voice for a Foghorn Leghorn inspired colonel in the racing dinosaur cartoon I mentioned in another post. Also was in that studios "Yippee, Yahooey" or whatever that was called with the three dogs.Daws Butler and Doug Young were in that Peter Potamus supporting segment.
