That Daffy Clara Randolph

Boy, Clara sure could be daffy. And that voice, sometimes I wonder if she was one of Gracie Allen's cousins. Over the years, she sure got herself into some pretty ridiculous situations. Thought it might be fun to have a thread listing some of her crazier characteristics and situations.

I'll start, in the ep The Tangled Web, (#411 Season 14, airdate 9/15/65) she has an old friend visiting who keeps going on about how attentive her husband is. Well Joe Randolph's away fishing, and so Clara can keep up with her friend's raving, she gets Ozzie to impersonate Joe. Lots of hijinks and close calls insue.

Mary Jane Croft was just wonderful and her ability to change her voice tone reflected what kind of a character she was playing.....from snooty Cynthia Harcourt, to suburban Betty Ramsey, to Lucy Carmichael rival Audrey Simmons, to Lucy's good friend, Mary Jane (on both Lucy Show and Here's Lucy!).

In an interview, she stated she much preferred working on the Lucy shows because it was lively while O&H was just boring.
