View Full Version : MY 1,000,000th Back To You thread!!! LOL A Bad Review of 'BTY'

See Pav, I can talk about both the good and apparently the BAD! LOL
"Back to You" -- or perhaps more aptly titled "Frasier Goes to Pittsburgh" -- would be the big hit sitcom of the year, if the year were 1992. Superficially the kind of grand old sitcom they don't make anymore, the show unfortunately suggests they probably shouldn't make 'em anymore; the formula and cast seem dated. Still, there's a smattering of laughs, and Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton give their all as the sparring, spatting anchor team at a Pittsburgh TV station. Fred Willard, as always (seemingly since dinosaurs ruled the Earth), provides invaluable nutty support, this time playing the zany in-house weatherman. "Well, I'm off," he says cheerfully. "I still vomit before every show." (Wednesdays at 8 p.m.; debuts Wednesday.)

Brian, that review was written by the critic, Tom Shales. He's one of the biggest liberals on the planet and is allergic to FOX. He's a sample of one his "fair" reviews, of Bill Moyers, another one of the biggest liberals on the planet. Don't think Shales isn't aware that Grammer and Heaton are Republicans.

So I guess it would be fair to say that we can scratch this "bad" review?

I'm merely suggesting that the author *may* have an agenda.

OMG, Tom Shales? That is the same guy who wrote the Norman Lear article quoting Lear as saying "GT is not a spin-off"!!!!!!!! (see the Good Times thread)... :brent
IS HE STILL ALIVE? :faint:

Yeah, he was almost on his knees (in praise, lol) of Bill Moyers and the ACLU. He ripped apart Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bush, FOX, the "right-wing ranting in TV and radio", the Iraqi war, etc, etc, etc.
Shales would endorse 'Back To You', like I'd endorse Michael Vick for Time's, 'Man Of The Year.'

Actually, Brian, I think this is your 2,225,861th BTY comment, but who's counting? ;)
You know what? The funniest (and I mean scream out loud funny) role I've ever seen Kelsey Grammer in was not as Frasier Crane. I don't know how many of you have ever seen the 1988 TV flick Dance 'Til Dawn. Kelsey plays the MAJORLY overprotective father of a high school senior played by Tracey Gold. He and his wife (Edie McClurg) get into one zany scrape after another on their daughter's prom night. Kelsey is a SCREAM!!! Any fan of his who hasn't seen this flick has to, ASAP. It's on DVD, you have no excuse!!

Liberals have an "agenda" for everything? Riiiiiiiiiighttttttt!! And Conservatives are always true and honest in their assessments? now, understand , the LAST thing i want is a fight, or especially a political battle but, to say that someone would give a show a bad review cause they have "A Liberal agenda" is just rediculous and insulting to me and any other liberal....guess what, we dont base EVERYTHING on our politics!

Who said they had an agenda for everything? Keep your words out of my mouth. If you think liberals and conservatives don't bring their biases into their work, you're living in LA LA Land. Is this your yearly, "Stomp off with your feelings all hurt" moment?

Actually Mikado, actors and producers have brought their politics into their work for years and years. Look at Norman Lear for example. He is actually the real Michael Stivic.
George Clooney has made movie after movie based on his politics. It does happen.

Don't blow his version of reality. Mikado likes feeling offended. Looks for reasons to get offended. I'm talking about a super liberal writer (one who doesn't even deny it), and he takes it personally.
I will concede that conservatives writers, etc. do the exact same thing. They'll trash a liberal movie and praise a conservative one.

:clap I thought I'd double posted and I guess I erased it, sorry. But certain liberals and certain conservatives are alike in that they do like to put their agendas in everything they do. I guess that's why I tend not to get involved with politics.

Yay for Monika! :clap
