As some of you guys may remember, I just moved last month. I moved to a new place in a new state. Assuming that you don't live under a rock, you guys know how stressful such a move is. Starting a new life, getting a new job, getting a new state ID card made up, opening a checking account at a new bank, etc etc etc.
Right. I've done a lot of these things since getting here. I have that new ID card in my hand, am always job-hunting, getting all sorts of things figured out for myself, etc. Last week, I crossed off one of these important things: getting a new checking account. All that stuff is in my hands now - checking account, checks and check card.
The check card arrived today. Excellent. I'm used to having check cards that have a two-year timeframe on it. They expire two years from the time it is issued to you. When I got my check card, I looked at the expiration date on it. This card is good for four years.
Or... According to the GOOD THRU date, 09/11.
I just about had a heart attack when I saw that. It would've been even more creepy had it arrived on the actual 9/11 date (yesterday). I know the "11" date is just the year, but damn if that doesn't give me goosebumps every time I look at it now. I managed to freak myself out even more when I came to a horrible realization... When it's time for me to get a new card, it will be during the ten YEAR anniversary of the actual 9/11.
How much more creepy can it get?! Yeesh. It's just a freakin' card, but STILL.
