Sara, I got this idea from your story, and it's not exactly like yours, so I hope you don't mind.
(Blair is in her room studying for a final she has the next day when Jo walks in singing "You've lost that lovin' feelin'" at the top of her lungs and holding her hand out like it has a microphone in it.)
J: Baby, baby, I get down on my knees for you. Bum-bum, bum-bum, bum-bum-bum. If you would only love me, li-
(Blair throws a pillow at her and knocks the headphones off her head. Jo gives Blair an evil look and runs to see if her headphones are broken.)
J: Blair!
B: Shut up! I'm sick and tired of you, finals, and life! Now, could you leave me alone so I could study and maybe get a D-?
J: Sorry! Geez, Blair, what's eating you?
B: Nothing! (In a sad tone.) Just... Leave me alone, okay? Please...
(Jo sits down by Blair.)
J: Blair, what's wrong?
B: Jo, can't you leave me alone for a minute?
J: I'm not going to leave you alone until you tell me what's wrong. I've seen you a lot of different ways, but not like this.
B: (Yawns.) I'm just really tired and in a bad mood, okay? I failed a final today. I stayed up till 3 in the morning studying, and what do I get? (Looks down ashamed.) I fell asleep at the test. Everyone saw me at my lowest...
J: Actually, you look better when you're asleep than when you're awake!
B: Jo, this is no time to make jokes! I really am afraid that I won't make it into law school! Maybe at the pharmacy they have something to keep you awake.
J: Be sure it's natural, because some of that stuff you can get addicted to!
B: I'll be careful. Thanks, Jo.
J: Hey, anytime! Just be sure you don't do anything stupid, okay?
B: Sure. I'll leave right away! Maybe I'll even pass my final! Thanks Jo! (She impulsively gives Jo a hug and walks out the door.)
(((The pharmacy)))
(Blair walks in the door. She goes up to the counter and rings the bell. A pharmacist walks up to the counter.)
P: Hello, may I help you?
B: Yes. Do you have anything to stop drowsiness?
P: One moment please.
(She goes back into a room. A few moments later, she walks out with a box and a bottle.)
P: Do you have a prescription?
B: No, I was hoping you had something that didn't need one.
P: Well, we do, but it's slightly addictive.
B: I don't mind. I'll take it!
P: That will be $32.95.
(Blair pays and the pharmacist puts the pill bottle into a brown bag and hands it to her.)
P: Come again!
(Blair walks out the door.)
(((Blair and Jo's room at midnight)))
(Blair is sitting down on her bed with a book in front of her trying to study. She frowns and puts her face into her hands for a few moments. She looks up and opens a drawer by her head and pulls out the bag. She gets out the bottle and reads the side.)
B: Caffeine pills. Take 2 every hour as needed. You can take no more than 48 during a 24 hour period. Hmmm.
(She goes to the bathroom and gets a glass of water. She sits back down on her bed, takes two pills, then waits. A few minutes later, she starts to feel some energy again. She starts to study, but thirty minutes later, she starts yawning again. She looks at the clock.)
B: I'm supposed to wait for about 30 more minutes, but it can't hurt to take another. Or two.
(She takes 2 more, then in 1 minute, starts coughing really bad. Jo wakes up.)
J: Blair, are you okay?
(She hides the bottle before Jo notices.)
B: Yeah, I'm (cough.) fine!
J: What are you doing up?
B: Studying. (Cough.)
J: By the way, did you get anything?
B: No, I decided I didn't need (Cough.) anything. Is it hot in here?
J: Blair, are you sure you're okay?
B: (Really starts coughing and can't stop.) Jo...
J: Blair, I'm calling 911!
B: Don't! (After a few seconds slowly stops coughing.) I'm fine. It's my fault. I took some caffeine pills, and probably took too many.
J: Those things are really addictive! Why did you get them?
B: I really needed to do good on these finals coming up, I couldn't fall asleep again! If I did, I really couldn't get into law school!
J: Give them to me so you won't take any more.
B: I... um... Sorry, I kind of went overboard and took them all. I couldn't help it.
J: Wow, Blair! You could have died! Don't you know any better?
B: No, I guess not.
(Jo lays back down and goes to sleep. Blair takes the almost full pill bottle out from behind her back and sighs.)
B: I can't give these up until after the finals, even if I die from it...
I'm gonna write on my other story now, so ciau!
