Actor Richard Belzer has made television history - his character Detective John Munch has now appeared in 10 different shows, following the recent taping of an upcoming episode of The Wire.

Munch was created by writer David Simon for Homicide: Life On The Street in 1993, and the wise-cracking cop character has now notched up his 10th TV program in the fifth season of The Wire, another Simon creation.

Belzer's Munch has also featured in Law & Order, Law & Order: Trial By Jury, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Simpsons, Arrested Development, The Beat, The X-Files and Sesame Street.

Well it couldn't happen to a nicer cop! LOL I love Munch and Fin on SVU, it is the reason I watch the show! I also loved Homicide when it was on...

Way to go Mr. Belzer and Det. Munch!! The only cop in the L&O franchise I loved more is Jerry Orbach's Lennie Briscoe - I would've loved to see them teamed up. The one-liners would be flying fast and furious!!

Actually, they did team up and it was the BEST! LOL...

L&O did a couple of two part crossover episodes with Homicide: Life on the Streets, where the first part was on one of the shows and the second part was on the other. They can be found on the Homicide complete boxed set. Sometimes they are rebroadcast on TNT.

I am not positive, but I think there were a couple of times where L&O and SVU did some combining of squads... I think it was on SVU, and I seem to remember Brisco and Munch coming together on those, although there wasn't as much colaboration as there was on the Homicide episodes... there Brisco and Munch actually worked as partners when Brisco and Curtis went to Baltimore for the second part of the investigation... they were even in Munch's bar at the end! LOL On the SVU episodes they were just sharing information.
