Does anyone know someone who has a PORTABLE AC? I saw it's 7000 bTU's and it's a AC that you can move from room to room. Trying to decide is this a good investment, please someone talk to me I'm hot and miserable

Just make sure you have a window to stick the hose out of. Those portable ones have a hose or something that sticks out a window. Exhaust or drainage...not sure what the hose does, but it's there.

Yeah, I would think that HD or Lowe's sell something like that and they shouldn't cost too much.

Yes, it's a very good investment, It's alot easier to put in the window and take out, than a window AC. It really does a good job cooling my room off.
My parents have one too and they love it.

This is the part you put in the window.

I decided to just go ahead and buy a $60 high tech fan with nice features

So it comes with something to put in the window so the hose can go through? That looks like what i will buy next year but just don;t have it in the budget right now. I want my account to be more sexy before I get that

Yeah, it does. I placed a piece of wood on top of the window to keep it down tight on the vent. I don't know if you would have to do that with your windows but it's something to keep in mind.
I forgot to mention, that mine came with a remote control, which is an added bonus.

I know what you mean about budgets. I'm trying to be careful with mine.

Hopefully, it won't get really hot again in Philly until next summer.

It'll probably only be hot for a couple of more weeks. Fall is almost here.

Yeah I just felt being so closed to Labor Day , it wasn't really worth it to spend money on a brand new AC when I can just tough it out for 4 more weeks. Now if it was June 28th I would have bought a New AC with the Quickness-lol

I need it. This way when I am in my bedroom and I need the fan at a lower speed or to turn off, there is my remote control. I can control all the settings.

Are you kidding? That is all I see in the stores. The only ones that don't come with a remote control are the small desk fans.

You might catch a good bargain on a new AC, with summer ending.

No I just bought me a new fan a few weeks ago. My other one died. I really wasn't looking but I don't remember any remotes. I'll have to pay more attention when I go to the store again.

Thank you. I was refraining from posting such a remark, but you said it and I thank you.

As for me using a remote, it is only for when I am in bed and the remote helps me because of constant backpain. This way I won't have to trouble myself from getting up if the room gets too cold. A cold environment can cause me more pain, as anyone with back pain can tell you. When it is hot, I will use the fan in my bedroom and after a while, it can get too cold, with the remote, I can adjust the setting as I am laying in bed. I can also adjust the oscillating setting.

HuH? In October (since summer will be over) you can go and buy a AC dirt cheap for next year. Why wait until next year to buy an AC when fall and winter are coming up?

Exactly. AC's are cheaper when it is cold/winter time. Just like heaters are cheap in hot/summer weather.
