Hello all,

As some of you know, I've been going through my Little House on the Prairie DVDs and I'm in the middle of Season 6, fastly approaching the tragic episode of "May We Make Them Proud". In any case, one thing has confused me. Throughout Season 4 & 5, when the Garveys appear (who are clearly there to fulfill the function of replacing the Edwards), very little is said about the Edwards other than than that they left. Even the mentioning of it is only in passing, in dialogue like "the Edwards' old place" and things like that.

Was there an episode where their leaving was officially acknowledged or was it merely mentioned in passing on occasion after Victor French left the show? It must have sucked to be Bonnie Bartlett (Grace Edwards) and Kyle Richards (Alicia Edwards) since they were out of a job when Victor French left. At least his new show didn't make it and he came back, along with the actors who played his family.

Anyway, what episode was their "moving" acknowledged? It just seemed strange that it was mentioned as if we the audience were supposed to already know that they had moved. I was like, "huh, when did that happen?".

The 1st episode I remember seeing Jonathan Garvey & his son Andy in
is "The Rivals." Alice isn't shown, but Caroline mentions something about
"his poor wife" having to do Jonathan's laundry. I don't think Andy even
has a speaking part in this episode-they just show him in the schoolyard
playing baseball with the others. Jonathan of course, has a bigger part-
he & Pa land that big contract with the freighting company. I also think
it's interesting when Jonathan is talking to Laura, he says something like,
"How about a kiss for your old friend Jonathan?" When he'd never been
shown or mentioned before! But getting back to Grace & Isaiah Edwards,
IS there an episode that shows them leaving? We do see them again in
that episode where Isaiah gets injured, and wants to kill himself.

The Edwards' last appearance I thought was when they struck it rich with the Inagalls family. I know that the Garveys debuted in that 90 minute boxing episode in 1977.
