What scene do you think is the best one in the first season?
For me, it's the scene in the church between Jen and Grams after Grams loses her husband. I thought Grams' acting in that scene was hands down the best acting of the whole season. Her emotions were just so powerful and raw. Well done, I say.
Honorable mention for a "moment" during the first season goes to Katie Holmes when she and Dawson were discussing his mother's affair. He is hurt and angry and she tells him that while she understands his feelings he should get down on his knees and thank God he has a mother. That little moment really got me.
Another great one is when she visits her father in prison and says "Because I'm fifteen and I really need to know that someone loves me." It brought tears to my eyes, and for just a moment, it made me remember how vulnerable we are at that age.

I have several favorite scenes from the first season. The scene(s) with Joey and her father was the first one to come to mind though. It was very well done.
Another favorite was at the end of the detention episode, when Joey broke down at the table (when Dawson asked her what's the matter?, and she says she can't tell because it would change everything)...Everyone was great in that scene. They really did look uncomfortable (though Dawson had no clue why, LOL).
And I don't know why, but I loved the scene where Joey confronts Gale about cheating on Mitch.
IMO, it seems the most memorable, and best scenes that year came from little Joey Potter...Despite what people say about her these days, there's no denying that Katie Holmes is a GREAT actress.

I'm glad you liked the scenes from the Jail, even though they made you cry, LOL.
That other scene was great too. That quote from Joey to Dawson gets me every time.
The Grams/Jen church scene was pretty good too. It was the first time they actually showed love for one another.

I think Katie did a great job, from what I've seen. I didn't pay too much attention to the tabloid stuff about her and Tom Cruise, because I just don't follow tabloids very much. I'm glad I didn't know know much (beyond the fact that he's crazy and she's now a scientologist), so I was able to sit down and watch with an unbiased opinion.
I think the best actor thus far is Joshua Jackson and can't wait to see what develops for him as I get into the other seasons.
ETA: Even if an actor is nuts, all I usually care about is their performance. What do I care if they're crazy, stupid, smart, nice, etc, in real life? But, there is a point where their persona can overpower their acting. Tom Cruise being the best example of that.

Joshua Jackson is great. I have mixed feelings about Pacey though, but we`ll discuss that when you watch more of the episodes.
I don't know that much about Tom and Katie either (I know he likes jumping on couches though)...The media really should leave them alone. It`s one thing to say something about someone`s clothes or their latest movie, but climbing in trees, to get a snapshot of a baby, is just not cool.
The most horrible thing I ever heard the tabloids, or VH1 or something say, was that that Tom and Katie were hiding their baby for months because she might have been deformed or something. It wasn't nice....I don't see why they have to make things up about people. I mean, what if their baby did have a birth defect or something?...Why would they write news columns about it?...I wouldn't doubt it if some of those rude people belong to theTWOP community, LOL.

LMAO! ITA and get where you're coming from on the tabs. I wonder if Tom wouldln't be such a couch jumper if the media left them alone? I probably wouldn't be the lovely picture of sanity that I am now (:D ) if my every move was scrutinized to that degree. And, not to run it in the ground, but the Katie Holmes thread at twop is so ridiculous, you must take a peek at it. They're convinced, for whatever reason that their baby is older than Tom/Katie say she is and they constantly look for clues to the baby's age---teeth, whether she's standing up/walking, etc.
And now you've managed to pique my curiosity about Pacey! You're so good at that. I can't wait to see more of this show.

I will take a look. Thank you miss sanity! Ha!
I guess I'm okay at it. I'm like an NBC promo. I have you wanting more...Unlike a WB/CW promo, where they give the whole damn show away. Or a FOX promo that makes you believe one thing is going to happen, but it doesn't.
