When you was a little kid, did you think you were going to see Ronald Mcdonald when you went to Mcdonalds?-lol I always asked my mom-"where is he? not knowing that it was just a commercial-lol My mom would say things like-"He is not at this Mcdonald's Today"

Anyone????

My younger sister used to expect to see him too. She'd be so disappointed when he wasn't there.

Why does this question pertain to those 27 and older? Because I'm younger than you, does that mean I didn't have a childhood?

Back when I was a kid of around 4-5 (1969-1970) they had special appearances of Ronald McDonald and some of the other characters at McDonald's around the U.S. I recall seeing him at one in Los Angeles where they had this big crowd of people and lots of kids, balloons, treats, etc. So to answer your question Sol, not only did I expect to see him...I ACTUALLY DID. So there.

Hes still around, but, like Mickey Mouse, is now more a figurehead symbol, as an "old fashioned clown", he probably doesnt "hit" the target "hiphop" market they have been targeting, as of late.

Below, the ORIGINAL Ronald...AKA Willard Scott..Yes, THAT Willard Scott!!
( Dont you love the shake cup nose and carrying box hat? )

I live about less than a quarter of a mile from a McDonald's, and every time my parents or grandma would take me or my siblings, I too wondered where Ronald was. I also wanted to know where the Hamburglar, Birdie, etc. were hiding.

That's right - the McDonalds characters were used a LOT back in the 1970s and 1980s - before some of you were even born!! :D Or at least before you were able to remember.

Yea every Christmas. We have a McDonalds right on Main Street so I guess it's a big tie in to that. I don't see him on TV anymore though. He used to be on all the time on Saturday mornings but when the network cartoons left I guess he did too.

He's still on their cups and stuff. Ronald is seen properly throwing the item away in a trash can. Look next time you're at a McDonalds; he's on the bottom somewhere.

Ok so if you say early 90's, the fact that courtnee is 15, that would mean that in 1990 she was not born, 1 in 1991 and 2 in 1992. So that's why I moved the age up a bit, now someone who is 22, was 5 in 1990 and 7 in 92 but that's still pushing it a bit

Um, Courtnee _was_ born in 1991. She turns 16 in a little while here.

You can think what you want, but I know damn well what I remember of the late 80's and early 90's. People are amazed at my photographic memory.

And *I* know damned well what you remember, cause I remember the exact same things. McDonalds ads, with the full cast of characters, up through around 1993-95 or thereabouts.

Exactly right you are. :) We got lucky enough to be born when we were. It certainly helps that we're pretty close in age, hehe.

I know I certainly wondered about seeing Ronald at McDonald's if we actually went there to eat. Kids today don't have that, I think.

What he is exactly wasnt ever clear but, originally, he was a thief......like the Hamburglar who stole hamburgers and the "fry guys" who stole the fries, Grimace liked to steal milkshakes ( possibly he was a blob cause McDs shakes werent low fat back then  ), and to make things easier, he had an extra set of arms to help him!
