LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Newly departed HBO mob saga "The Sopranos" led the field of television series named as Emmy Award contenders on Thursday, claiming a total of 15 nominations including a bid for best drama.
"The Sopranos," which won the Emmy as best drama in 2004 and ended its six-season run last month, will compete for U.S. television's highest honors against "Grey's Anatomy" and "Boston Legal" from ABC, "House" from Fox" and "Heroes" from NBC. The 59th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on September 16.
