There has been a change behind the scenes at "Boston Legal," David E. Kelley's comedic drama for ABC.

Executive producer Janet Leahy has left the series, produced by David E. Kelley Prods. and 20th Century Fox TV.

Lawrence Broch, who served as consulting producer on the show for the past two seasons, has been named co-executive producer and head writer.

In addition to creator/executive producer Kelley and Broch, the writing team for "Boston Legal" next season includes consulting producers Phoef Sutton and Susan Dickes, producer Craig Turk, executive story editors Sanford Golden and Karen Wyscarver and story editor Corinne Brinkerhoff.

"Boston Legal," a spinoff of "The Practice" that stars James Spader and William Shatner, returns for a fourth season in the fall. Although not the ratings hit like its predecessor, it has developed a devoted core group of fans.

Broch's credits include the comedies "Ellen," "Roseanne," "Norm" and "George Lopez."

They had some really strange episodes last season, hope these changes will make the show better.

I'd have to agree. The show is getting really weird to watch, which is probably why it is losing its audience. As much as I like the show, it isn't what it used to be in its first and second season. I'm really surprised it got picked up for a fourth season. Nonetheless, I am glad I get to see Candice Bergen for one more year on TV.
