what's your favourite episode of ugly betty from season 1?

mine is the one where marc confronts his mother and tells her that he is gay. very poignant but sad at the same time as well

That was a great episode. I also liked the one where Hilda came to work at Mode and Betty finally told her exactly how she felt about her working there.

yeah, that was a good one too. though when i think about it, i could actually picture hilda working at mode, obviously not alongside betty, but i do think that she might be able to make the place slightly more interesting, as well as make the show as interesting as it is already. as for the marc episode, it was great to see a totally different side to him, and it was one that we hadn't seen before this episode was screened. he may be bitchy and snide most of the time, but as we've seen in a few episodes, he does have a heart of gold. i would like to see more of his sensitive side, particuarly in the second season. of course himself, wilhemina and amanda are seen as the so called 'bad' guys in the show, but behind their arrogance, cockiness and often self-centredness must lie a vulnerable and soft- centre inside each of those characters, though in marc, we have seen plenty of that to know he is not an out- and-out evil and bad person. irrespective of what the programme suggests, and what the writers and creators of ugly betty have originally portrayed him as.

btw, who could ever forget that scene when marc kissed betty?!! OMG, that was priceless!

Yeah that was a funny kiss with Betty. I love watching Marc & Amanda, they are so hilarious together.

marc and amanda do rebound off each other, pretty well. i have to say though that i am not a particular fan of amanda, as she comes across as very bitchy. but like all the other characters, she does have her moments and amanda can be quite funny at times too

Amanda reminds me of a girl I went to school with, I didn't like her at all. But on the show watching Amanda & Marc in scenes together is just so entertaining. I really like this show.

yes, i absolutely adore this show. i know people have made comparisons with the devil wears prada, but this is so much better. it's also better than veronica's closet and just shoot me, which were and are very similar to ugly betty in terms of the fact, they are both set in the world of fashion magazine journalism. i didn't like those shows though.

though back to marc, i loved it when he stuck up for justin when his mother ridiculed him and michael did a great job as marc as he was so convincing in that role
