Coming this spring there will be a CD release of composer George Greeley's original background score for My Favorite Martian. There are about 23 tracks taken from the original master recordings done at Desilu Studio from 1963-65.
I've heard an exclusive preview of the music and the quality is sharp and clear, as if you were there for the live recordings! It runs about 75 minutes.
This is going to be a limited release CD with only 3,000 being available.
I'm sure more details will become known as we get closer to the release date later this spring.

George Greeley is one of the unsung composers of "sitcom" music [along with Earle Hagen, Vic Mizzy and Wilbur Hatch]- and his scores for "MFM" are among the best! Find out where this CD is available....And GET it!!!!

I particularly liked Greeley's "sunspots" cue in "Going, Going, Gone". Shimmering and mysterious.....I know that won't be a part of the upcoming release.

There are so many tracks to choose from, we have a similar track to "sunspots" I'm sure you won't be anything but thrilled.
The arrangements are amazing in just how complex each one becomes as you listen, yet at the same time the music is so seamless in it's style.
the music becoming sound fx is just so interesting you can just sit back and picture the action on each track.

The background music for My Favorite Martian has always been one of my favorites. Wild Wild West is another unsung hero for great background music. So, when's this My Favorite Martian CD coming out? It's July now and still no sign of the My Favorite Martian CD, I'm anxious to get it. Also, while I'm dreaming, will the Wild Wild West TV show music ever come out on CD???:)

just to let you know the company releasing the CD is La
La Land Records.
I'm not sure where they will sell them, but they can be ordered on line at their site. www.lalalandrecords.com.
The album is really wonderful, and will make smile from moment to moment....it just has a really enjoyable vibe to it.

I checked out La La last week before you mentioned it here, but nothing said. I checked it again today and still no announcement or mention of My Favorite Martian. Are they trying to keep their release a secret? Their website says nothing about it.

Well, it's now August, the month the CD was supposed to be out and the La La Land Website still has no mention of it's release. It's not even in the "New Release" section. Hmm, I'm beginning to lose faith.:(

I just checked their website again and see no mention of this CD? If they were planning on releasing a Soundtrack for the series wouldn't they at least mention it on their site? especially when the supposed release date is in 2 days?

Does the thought of hoax, come to mind?? The only word I've heard of this supposed release is the cheerleader here telling us how stupendous the CD and the foreign version of the Martian series will be. I bought Season 3 from Rhino when it was available on VHS a few years back, since then I've transferred it to DVD. So I'm not desperate to get Season 3 anyway, but this CD would have been nice if it had been a reality.

The CD is very real, it was to come out on monday the 12th of November but due to a printers problem it will street on the 17th of November.
(quality on all products it my major concern, hence the delay)
sorry to hear you don't care for the third season DVD's, I can tell you it is one of the best presentations of "Martian" ever produced.
The one thing that I can assure you of is.. that everything I post is authentic and will be produced as soon as possible.
As the Licensing manager for "My Favorite Martian" it is my intention to reward our long term fans with the highest quality merchandising possible.
Being a fan of the show myself I know what we have missed out on, this will not be the case now.:)

okay, that makes sense. thankyou for replying but I also am wondering, Why can't it be pre-ordered or anything? How can it sell out so fast if there is no advertising anywhere for it, besides posts on a few forums here and there.

Starting after the release on the 17th there will be press releases in most of the trades.
Also don't forget this show has a cult following outside the US, Australia and New zealand and the UK just to name a few.
So when you take all of that in mind the edition is bound to move rather fast..so far as pre-order that's a La La Land Question..hit their web site.
The next album is being worked on now..that should tell you something.

While I have Rhino's 3rd Season, I would still be interested in the new DVD release of the 3rd season. I would gladly have bought it again from Rhino if they offered it, so I made my own DVD copies from the Rhino VHS 3rd season set. My only problem with the new release that's supposed to be coming from the Australian company, is #1 the cost, pretty expensive, & #2 how exactly do you get it? You can't go to Deep Discount or Amazon to get it, and it still apparently is not available on the website that is supposed to be offering it. And when you try to look it up on that website it tells you it is not found when you do a search for it. So this is just as elusive as the CD, neither can be found on the websites that are supposed to be involved in their release. It would be great if both of these could be offered on Deep Discount like all other commercial CDs and DVDs. It's odd that they are not.

As Hazel Anyday just reported on another thread, the MFM CD is now available on the LaLa Land Records website as of today 12/4/07

I thought they did a great job with the release. Reading the excellent liner notes, it seems like they would have enough for a second volume. It was nice to see you listed in the credits Joyce.
3000 units of any TV score/film score CD is a lot. I doubt they were expecting to sell them all out within only a couple of months.
