This sucks that Growing Pains is gone from both ION and Nick at Nite. (1:00 AM doesn't count.) Moral Court sounds interesting, too bad it's on against 7th Heaven.

How was Growing Pains doing in the ratings, for both networks? The show has proven before that it doesn't do well in syndication/cable, but I could never figure out why, since it was a top rated show back in the 80's. That is a shame, especially since it is being replaced by Amen. I was really enjoying the show on both networks, so I am very disappointed.

Gee just when I was getting use to seeing Kojak again, it gets replaced by yet another network showing movies that you can rent. I was really hoping to get to the second season of Kojak since it obviously isn't coming out on dvd.
I find it strange that Growing Pains isn't doing well in syndication. A few years ago when it was on the Disney Channel everyday my kids never missed it, they would have their friends over everyday to watch it. I guess maybe it just gets old since it hasn't been hard to find the past few years.

I thought Growing Pains was doing well for ION, but guess not anymore...who knows. I know Mama's and Diagnosis Murder pulls in solid numbers for them.
This is GREAT!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see what Alice is like and maybe I'll even give The Wonder Years another try (I've seen it and wasn't really too thrilled). Great to see Amen back and I'll watch Moral Court and see what it's like. Even though I like both shows, Green Acres is on TV Land and Growing Pains on N@N, so at least they're airing somewhere, unlike the new shows they're bringing in (well Amen is on TV One, but not a lot of people get that channel). Maybe this is one step closer to them expanding, giving some other shows a try. I'm sure Growing Pains and maybe Green Acres will return once it's entirely expanded.
I've never even seen or really heard anything about BattleStar Gallactica, so I don't know what to think on that one. Who owns the rights to it? Just a wild guess..Universal?
Also, I wonder if the poll on ionline.tv will be updated with some of the shows on it coming.

Yes, Battlestar Galactica is a Universal-owned show. Alice is a great show, and finally is back on TV, same for Wonder Years. They just need to add Perfect Strangers now.
And when they expand, I can see them bringing back Growing Pains at least for like a mid-afternoon block maybe?

Got to give Ion some credit - by April 2nd they will have showed all the Growing Pains episodes at least once. They could have swapped it with another show a long time ago , but chose to wait.

Probably because no one on that show is still widely recognizable, (accept for Kirk Cameron to Christians). I guess that might be why FP does high ratings on Nick@Nite (or is treated like it does).

Disney Channel bought the show basically for the Luke episodes during Leo's Titanic days, he doesn't appeal to that channel's Tennybopper base anymore.

So great to see Alice and The Wonder Years. I'm going to definitely be watching (and likely putting on DVD ... just in case)

I hope Perfect Strangers comes soon also. That would be nice to see.
Another one; Silver Spoons! That hasn't been on in ages. They have it, hopefully it'll see the light of day soon. I'd like to see it.
Who's the Boss would compliment the schedule nicely also. It's Sony, so maybe there's a bit of hope.
"Alice" and "The Wonder Years" make me VERY happy, especially my girl Alice! I can't wait to see her again!
But I am also very upset that "Charlie's Angels" and "Kojak" are gone. Two of the greatest 70s crime dramas are both without a home. There should definitely be a channel devoted strictly to 70s crime dramas and hospital shows.

Hooray for "Alice"! WOO-HOO! :D
I will definitely be taping "Alice" since it doesn't look good for a season DVD release in the near future.
I just wish N@N would get rid of the "Fresh Prince" and "Roseanne"---1 or 2 showings a night is fine, but the whole 3-4 hour block thing for each show is way old. Why not give other great non-airing shows a chance, like one of my favorites, "Mr. Belvedere"?

Yes, Silver Spoons would be great. I think they should do a 3-6PM block in the coming months with family sitcoms like Silver Spoons, Diff'rent Strokes, Growing Pains, Perfect Strangers and a family drama at 5 like Life Goes On.
Who's the Boss is Sony, but Program Exchange is leasing the show currently, and ION doesn't have access to that.
I'd love this:
3:00PM Diff'rent Strokes
3:30PM Silver Spoons
4:00PM The Facts of Life
4:30PM Head of the Class
5:00PM Life Goes On

Just curious....is "Battlestar Gallactica" going to be reruns of the original show from the 70's/80's....or reruns of the new version that is still currently airing on another station?

tf70: Good question. Lots of people actually asked me that, and I should have made it more clear. It will be the 1978 one, as far as I know, but they haven't booked any episode titles/numbers for it yet.

eng51squad51: The public domain stuff would never air on the full network. Empty Nest is Buena Vista, so they don't have a deal for that.
88survivor: Charles in Charge is Universal, but they can't air it because Program Exchange is leasing it. Hogan Family might have a chance, but I doubt it.

Agreed pavan! I keep going to that poll and sliding their bar over to ten to get Perfect Strangers on the air as are the other fans! It's not like it's being played anywhere else right now  and also why aren't they showing Barney Miller? That was on their list as well.
These are both classic shows that have many episodes they could run.

At first I wasn't going to record Alice because I remember recording Laverne and Shirley off Lifetime and then came to the conclusion that it wasn't recordable. A week from tomorrow to go! Yay!
Yeah, the timeslot for "Alice" is good for me too. I'm still ticked about not having any more "Charlie's Angels" at 9pm (central) because I was just starting to get back into watching the show regularly again, but alas, it's being replaced by something I'm actually looking forward to. Actually, I started looking at TWY episode guides and stuff and I forgot how much I truly loved this show. I think I'll even be able to appreciate it more now that I have a big interest in character development and all of that good stuff. I really cannot wait.

Well, ION is developing a habit of adding and dropping shows but I think at least every show they've aired (minus Amen, which is returning) has had a full run of all of the episodes. I'm not 100% sure but I'm 99.9% sure.
Did Charlie's Angels get a full run? That's the only one I'm not sure about. Same for Growing Pains, although I think they did.
I also wouldn't mind ION having "seasonal" schedules like ME-TV does.
I'm guessing July is when the lineup expands when the mini-series/movie deal with that company (whatever it's name was) starts. Although I hope they don't take up most of the lineup.

Yeah, they went through the entire run of CA, but I think they might have skipped an episode here or there. After they went through the whole run, they just started picking random episodes from seasons three and four (1978-1980) and airing them in the timeslot for whatever reason.
I'm sure "Welcome Back, Kotter," "The Monkees," and "The Partridge Family" didn't get full runs. They were only on for a few weeks, and that's what really makes me nervous about "Alice" and "The Wonder Years." I don't think ION would think twice about dropping them if they don't deliver quickly.
And as far as I understand, the RHI (movies/mini-series) stuff will only air on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Don't forget that Retro Televison Network is premiering and has rights to CBS shows.
They only need to show 30 Minutes of those Sitcoms.
SCFI Network shows that show right know.
They need to do remake shows like Growing Pains,Full House,Brady Bunch and so on from 8PM to 1OPM.

(West Palm Beach, FL – March 28, 2007) – ION Television, ION Media Networks’ (AMEX: ION) flagship TV network reaching over 90 million homes, continues to deliver significant ratings gains in weekday primetime versus last year. According to the latest Nielsen Media Research data, ION Television’s weekday primetime average is up 30 percent for the season compared to the first two quarters of 2006.
With this ratings progress and new content initiatives, including its partnership with RHI Entertainment, ION Television sees growth opportunities in the general advertising marketplace. The network will host an Upfront sales presentation for advertisers on Thursday, May 3, 2007 in New York City to unveil its programming strategy for the 2007-2008 season. RHI Entertainment, which will serve as ION Television’s exclusive programming supplier on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights beginning June 29th, will provide a sneak preview of some of the original titles debuting on ION later this year.
“Our on-air launch of RHI’s award-winning family-oriented content in June is the next milestone in positioning ION Television for growth,” said Brandon Burgess, President and CEO, ION Media Networks. “Plus, we are working on additional content initiatives that our advertising clients will find interesting and forward-thinking.”
“Our ongoing efforts to expand the network’s programming appeal have resulted in solid ratings growth for our primetime lineup,” said Stephen Appel, ION’s President of Sales and Marketing. “These gains translate into attractive audiences for our advertisers, and we look forward to presenting to the advertising community our programming plans for the upcoming season at our first Upfront under the new ION Television brand.”
“We are thrilled to be joining forces with ION Television on unveiling their new programming slate, anchored by RHI’s award-winning library product and exclusive original content on weekends starting this summer,” said Robert Halmi, Jr., President & CEO of RHI Entertainment. “This unique partnership is a win-win, affording the opportunity to showcase our movies and miniseries in more U.S. homes than ever before.”
For the week ending March 25th, ION Television delivered its best performance for a single program this season with its broadcast of “The Cowboys,” starring John Wayne, on Sunday, March 25th at 8 p.m. The movie posted a 0.9 HH rating (1,044,000), boosting the night’s primetime average to a 0.8 HH rating (932,000), the network’s highest single weekend night performance for the season.
Overall, ION Television’s weekend movies, currently featuring popular titles from the libraries of Warner Bros., Sony and NBC Universal, have improved their time period by over 50 percent in households compared to the first two quarters of 2006.
In addition, during the recently concluded February Sweep period, ION Television’s viewers proved they love their “Mama,” with “Mama’s Family” posting a 0.9 HH rating (1,008,000) on Thursday, February 15th. The night, anchored by “Diagnosis Murder” at 9 p.m. and “Charlie’s Angels” at 10 p.m., delivered the network’s highest single weeknight performance for the season at a 0.7 HH rating (752,000).

Let's hope Pav, that with these ratings, ION will drop most of their PAID PROGRAMMING slots and put some great shows instead.

They will drop them soon. Which would mean that the different feeds (DirecTV, etc) will now be all the same as national. I'm guessing by June or July.

The Weekends is the best time to air Sitcoms especially during primetime so they need to change that a little.

Primetime Weekends is where they will air the RHI movies come July. Hopefully they can get dayparts cleared for air on weekends, if not, weekday dayparts is better.

that sucks. Charlie's Angel and Green Acres are gone. I really want to see them and I literally hate to see Diagnosis Murder at the time when Charlie's Angel was suppose to be on.

I was surprised to find that Alice will not start with episode one and build from there. Instead the Monday episode is from 76, then tuesday they show episode 1, then Wednesday something like 44, then Thursday 5, etc. I am concerned that there is no long term committment if they will be showing random episodes. Mama's Family was show in sequence, wasn't it?

According to my TiVo guide, all the episodes are airing in order ... I see episodes 1-10 listed.

That's great. My Dishnetwork Guide showed random episodes throughout the next week.
As far as I know, ION airs all of their shows in order. The only instance I know of them going out of order was for "Charlie's Angels," and that was only after they completed a run of it.

from Ionline.tv they will start with the pilot episode of Alice and then rest of the episode will be in order Ionline.tv schedule (http://www.ionline.tv/schedule.php) Alice episode guide (http://epguides.com/Alice/)
I totally forgot how different the "Alice" pilot is from the rest of the series. Alfred Lutter played Tommy in the pilot, I knew that much, but I forgot all about the entirely different opening and closing credits. That opening looked so movie-like. If the show was a drama, they could have soooo used that opening!
Vera wasn't featured much, and when she was, she was so naive and cliche. Can't wait until she becomes a much more well-rounded character over the next couple of episodes.
The two main sets (which were the only main sets throughout the entire run of the show) - Mel's Diner and Alice's apartment - were very different from what they are most of the run of the show. I believe Alice's apartment was completely overhauled between the pilot and the rest of the episodes. For example, the door usually opens away from the camera. In the pilot, it opened to the left of the screen.
For anyone who was turned off of the show because of the pilot, I urge you to continue to watch. The show had a very rocky beginning, but it gets better. The best seasons were two, three, and four, so that's when the show will really get good.

I would have watched again tonight, but a storm here knocked out the Ion station's reception.
I can't wait to see the rest of the series. I've never seen it before. Hopefully everything'll be fixed by tomorrow.
