View Full Version : Who's a snorer?

I've never been one to snore, only on occasion. My husband can raise the roof with snoring, but only when he's extra tired or has been drinking. My father used to fall asleep on his recliner after dinner, and his own snoring would wake him up, lol.

Who's a snorer, sleeps with a snorer, lives with a snorer?

I do sometimes.

No one is worse than my 10 year old stepsister. I cannot even explain the noises coming out of such a small body. Its unbelievable.

I only snore when I sleep on my back and that only happens if I fall asleep on the couch while watching TV.

I do but not that much. I know my parents and my brother are snorers! We all had to sleep in the same big room while visiting family. I coulden't sleep cause of their loud snoring. It seemed like they were having a contest. cause on would snore then the other would do it louder then so and so on..

My Dad had that. I swear I would die a thousand deaths waiting for him to BREATHE, dammit BREATHE, lol.

Kind of dumb on my part, but I haven't bothered to get the "Darth Vader mask" yet. I haven't been officially diagnosed. My doctor keeps pestering me to have the sleep study done, and my oral surgeon told me I definitely have it after he operated on me a few months ago.

I just can't be arsed to do the sleep study. Stupid, I know. A mask would probably help me sleep a lot better than I do, and I wouldn't be posting on message boards at 11:46 at night. :)

Actually AKA, what gave me the idea for this thread was Dear Abby's column on snoring and sleep apnea. Get a load of me...it's almost 3am. Damn meds, lol.

Yeah, I know all about the crappy side effects of medication. I swear, between you and I, we could start our own pharmacy.

I really should get something done about my sleep apnea. I haven't slept well in a long time. I'm just nervous about having a sleep study done. It seems really creepy to have lab technicians watch you while you sleep.

I know. That is a scary thought. Reminds me of a horror movie. That aside, you should consider it. When I go to bed late, I can sleep in. Your alarm goes off in the morning, and you have an office to go to.

Yes. 5 am is creeping up on me, and that's another thing that keeps me awake. I'm going to go try and get my five hours of sleep in. Wish me luck.

I don't think I'm a snorer. I've never been told that I snored, so I assume I'm not. My mom on the otherhand is a big time snorer!! We live in a tri-plex, and even our neighbors have heard her snoring before. LOL!!

I'm not a snorer, unless I happen to be sick with a sinus infection or something of that nature. My mom, however, snores like a bandsaw! She's kept me awake on more than one occasion, and that's from the other room! My dad snores sometimes too, but not nearly as bad as my mom.

My mom has the mask but she never uses it. My parents both have sleep apnea, so my house is not a quiet place at night. They sleep in separate rooms because they wake each other up.

One time I was walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night. As I entered the bathroom, I heard a motorcycle flying by the front of the house. Or, at least I thought I did. It was just my mom snoring. She's one of the louder snorers I know.

My cousin is worse, particularily when he's drunk. He actually sounds like he's dying or something, it's horrible.

I have been told that i snore from time to time. It's kind of embarrassing when you share a hotel room with a friend on a trip and the next morning they inform you of how loud you are.

My mom.

One time I was about to watvch a movie, and I thoughtthere was like a BEAR in the room next door. Turns out it was my mom's snoring.

It depends on the position I'm in while I'm sleeping--I've been told I snore a lot when I'm lying on my chest.

I live with a snorer too--my Dad!

I think sort of, but just when I can't breathe. Which with my lousy sinuses, is often. But I don't think it's loud.

My dad snores pretty loud. And unfortunately, there's no falling asleep before him because it takes him 5 seconds to fall asleep. Takes me an hour.

My boyfriend and our pug Duke SNORE SOOOOO DAMN LOUD IT IS PITIFUL!

I don't know how many times I send my boyfriend to the couch to sleep and there goes the dog to sleep with him. From a distance I can hear snoring and I can't decipher who is who from the snoring.

I do a little. Not nearly as much as my parents, namely, my father. He can deny it all he wants, but he snores louder than anyone I know...except my grandfather...

That is what my dentist said as well. I have a mouth guard I wear at night bc my teeth are getting ruined bc of me grinding my teeth.

You really should invest in the mask, I was fortunate that my company paid 75% but it really helps. You get alot more quality rest in less time, I used to try and catch up on sleep on the weekends and no matter how much sleep I got it was still not enough.

You also run the risk of falling asleep when you are driving if you get too sleep deprived. Take it from me the Vader mask is definately worth it for your health.

It is hard to sleep when you are inside a glass room and have dozens of wires hooked up to you but it is completely painless (except when they remove the leeds from any area with hair).

The somnogram would probably give a lot better idea of how severe the apnea is. In the 8 hours I only managed to sleep for 5.5 but they were able to determine that less than 45 mins was REM sleep

My mother is still the loudest snorer I've ever heard. It's not easy when you're a light sleeper who suffers from insomnia and your mom is snoring away in the next room. ARRGGH!!

I think I may have sleep apnea, I have been known to wake up with a desert in my mouth and I have to put a drink of water or something in my mouth just to get some life in there. But the part that set signals off to me was a few months ago when I was out of town and sharing a bedroom with three other people for a few nights (my ex and another couple), and one of the other parties said behind my back that he couldn't stand being in a bedroom when I'm asleep because of the noises I'd make while sleeping, and I'd generally notice waking up with a dry mouth and needing a sip of water badly

It's so funny how both sides of my family are completely different sleepers. My dad and I are the light sleepers/insomniacs, as was my grandmother (Dad's mom). My mom's side of the family (Mom, grandmother and uncle) are the loudest snorers I have ever known!! At least my nephew doesn't snore...I think...

apparently i snore, but not all the time. i don't know when it began or anything, but my friend started pointing it out to me a couple of years ago when we started sleeping over at each other's houses. before that, i had assumed i didn't snore. lol.

I never snore but my cousin Elena... oh my god. I could seriously hear her snoring in my sleep when she stayed at our house for week. With the door closed and on the other side of the house.

 Same here! Most nights I don't notice him snoring, but if I do, it's either because it's really loud (it's woken me up on occasion) or if I'm the one having trouble going to sleep. My husband tends to have the pillow propped up and then sleeps with his neck arched back a little. If he starts snoring, I will gently pull the pillow out from under him (notice I said gently!:p) and lay it flat then try to turn him over. If he's laying flat, the snoring usually stops.

But I'm a snorer myself. Sometimes I will wake myself up or when I wake up, I sound like a pig almost, jarring myself awake! Once I was on the bus going to work, and I was in this deep sleep. My husband poked me to tell me to get off at my stop and I swear I snorted really loud when I woke up! I'm surprised that people around me weren't :rotflmao: !!!
