Oscar winner Alan Arkin is reuniting with his Little Miss Sunshine co-star Steve Carell in the big-screen version of Get Smart, which Peter Segal is directing for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Arkin will play the chief of CONTROL, the organization that fights the evil forces of KAOS. Edward Platt played the character in the 1965 TV series.
Carell is on board as secret agent Maxwell Smart, with Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Terrence Stamp also have been cast.
Andrew Lazar, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing the comedy. Mosaic, Mad Chance and Callahan Films are the production entities involved.
Sounds like a good cast, although I think Anne Hathaway is a bit young to be playing Steve Carell's love interest.

Can't Hollywood just leave it alone, why do they have to destroy our great shows,i don't want no one playing Maxwell Smart,no one is Don Adams.
They wreck Beverly Hillbillies,The Adams Family,Lost In Space and now tying to wreck Get Smart.

Terence Stamp (general Zod from Chris Reeve's Superman films)
is going to be in it? As what? Zigfried? I hope 99 is still a pretty dish in this new version like she was in teh original show. BTW they didn't ruin the Beverly Hillbillies (though Jed was lamentably shorter in the 93 film version) the film captured alot of the original show's heart.

THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES movie was HORRIBLE!!! It was TOTALY miscast (ecspecially Cloris Leachman as Granny, Diedrich Bauer as Jethro, and Lily Tomlin as Miss Jane), the script was crap, the acting was second-rate, and the direction was also crap!

Oh please. The Hillbillies movie is what it is. It wasn't THAT bad. Compared to the original, OF COURSE it was bad, but it's been over 10 years ...
I'm not crazy about Anne Hathaway or Steve Carrel for that matter but I'm willing to give the movie a shot.
