So I've been watching the S2 DVDs and enjoyed the Ethel Merman episode. From seeing her on That Girl, she does have a good personality and powerful voice, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of movies and/or albums in particular as an "Ethel starting kit."

Also...settle something for me. Did Ethel only appear on the Season 2 premiere, or did she guest star later on? I swear I remember the latter.

The Original Cast Recording of Gypsy has some of her best vocal work

I was thinking she appeared on a later season too.

Ethel Merman had an unforgettable cameo in Airplane. Hysterical!!
She was also a guest star in the first season of The Muppet Show, now available on DVD.
On CD, made in 1979, is the Ethel Merman Disco Album. No, I am not kidding.
Have fun!! :D

Ethel Merman also starred as Lola Lasagne in the Batman episodes "The Sport of Penguins" & "A Horse of Another Color"

I was thinking she appeared on a later season too.
Ethel was in 2 episodes during the second season. They were "Pass The Potatoes, Ethel Merman (#37)" and "That Other Woman (#51)."
In "That Other Woman," Ann spots Ethel while she's dining in a restaurant with Mr. Marie and Donald. Later on, Ann's mother thinks Ann's Dad is having an affair with Ethel.
I haven't seen the other seasons of the show so I don't know if Ethel appears again.
OH Nuts!

JM I remember Ethel doing a duet with Frank Sinatra on this great DVD video collection of duets Frank did with other performers (Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Shore. etc.). With his kids doing the commentaries. One of the duets was with Ethel Merman. They sang "You're The Top". It was very cute and very funny. I had borrowed the DVD from the library. If you also happen to like Frank Sinatra then this DVD would be a definite MUST HAVE. If Frank doesn't rock your world, you could probably borrow the DVD from a library.
Also I have a DVD called Stage Door Canteen (1942) where various celebs perform. Ethel's one of them. She was in her 30's at the time. This is a $1 DVD that you're likely to find in stores that carry the Bargain DVDs.
Also there's lots of great clips of Ethel on You Tube.
Just curious: What does OT mean?
