As members of a party the goal of Democratic senators is to strengthen their party. Lamont won the primary, why wouldn't other Democratic senators support him?

Perhaps because he's been around forever, was their VP Candidate in 2000, and was never behind in the polls - or does seniority and respect mean nothing to Democrats?

He didn't win the nomination. He wasn't the Democratic nominee in '06. Why would the Dems still support an independent?
