It appears that in addition to all of the season one episodes and content released on the T-L season one set, the new season one DVD will also include a fifth disc featuring four additional "favorite" episodes of Klugman and Randall, one of them being "Password."!

I'm glad I didn't buy the T-L set... I feel I can never trust certain DVD companies (in this case being PHE). I figured either their set would be horrible or fantastic, feeling they would just have to one-up Time-Life. Nevertheless, I will definately be buying the PHE set when it comes out on April 24th.

This must be horrible news to all of you guys though; this is just a slap in the face, almost like the complete series "special" edition of MASH. I'm so sorry things worked out this way for all of you. Perhaps PHE will offer a way for the T-L customers to buy the fifth disc alone, but somehow I doubt they would do anything that consumer-friendly... they never do.

Incidently, the fifth disc also offers intros by Garry Marshall.

I'm pretty ticked about this.

I don't see myself buying the set again.

Glad I waited. This cover art is so much better. Extra disk is nice, but I would have gotten it anyway. I was going to get the Time Life one, but then someone posted they only had the rights to season 1 so I decided not to.

Guess those who choose the Time Life version just got impatient on OC S1. Maybe the extras will help the S1 sales enough for S2 and the seasons after that. Just like the significant extras added to the Brady Bunch Complete series.

glad I didn't buy the T-L set; like I was planning to, and decided to wait when I heard they only have the rights to S1 and PHE is also releasing it.

But now; I'm sure people will be complaining who already pluncked down money for the T-L release, and PHE will release the 5th disc seperatly, like Fox has done with MASH.
Since I heard that OC is one of the most requested shows on DVD.

Well, I foolishly bought the T-L set, but I can do one of the 2 things which I also advise those who also bought the T-L set. Either buy the PHE set and sell my T-L DVD set on eBay, or keep the T-L set and wait till they release the individual seasons with those 5th disc eps. Of course, the further season releases aren't guaranteed.
