View Full Version : Do you like talking on the phone?

I have to be in the mood. If I'm not, I won't even pick it up. Some days, I talk for hours, and then I can go for days on end without being on the phone.

It depends on my mood as well, and sometimes I find it easier to talk to certain people on the phone as opposed to others (my best friend, for example). That is when I don't mind being on the phone for a long time :)

No. I hate it. I hate calling, I hate answering, I hate holding the phone to my ear...etc. Phones are a necessary evil.

Text messaging is good though.

I don't really mind it unless it's a very long call. That can get irritating.

It depends on my mood as well and who I will talk too.

I've never been big on conversing over the telephone. I carry my cell phone with me at all times, but I only use it when necessary. I never could understand this incessant need many people have to chatter endlessly on their cell phones while out in public...

Not very much. I would much rather talk with people in person than over a phone. After a while, it just seems hypnotic while talking over the phone for an extended period of time. Mostly holding the phone to my ear (I can't lean my phone to my shoulder and walk around like other people can do), so my hand gets tired. And, I can't switch over my phone to my left ear. My left eye and my left ear are weaker senses than the right respective sides. That, and I have a difficult time hearing most people over the phone, so I hate to say, "What was that?" or "I'm sorry, but can you repeat that?" many times. There is only person (the guy I like) who, miraculously enough, I don't have much of a hard time hearing over the phone or when we talk in person. Coincidence? A sign?

I have a friend who can talk for a long time over the phone, but I get tired easily. This guy I knew didn't have his own phone, so he'd call me when it was quiet and boring at his job. He could talk a long time, but I would also easily get tired. I have a difficult time ending conversations politely. I let it go for a while until I finally decide I've had enough and then think of an excuse!

I LOVE talking on the phone. I'm a huge phone talker. It's so funny this topic was started because I had the longest phone conversation of my life on Saturday night. My friend and I talked for 6 hours and 45 minutes from 9:30pm - 4:15am. And Last night I was on the phone for more than 4 hours talking to 7 different people. (My four closests friends, my girlfriend, my dad, and my grandma). So the phone is great. Much better than IM or e-mail although in-person is still better.

If it's someone I know...but I don't like call people really. And, I have really bad hearing, so that doesn't help. Then again, I'm horrible at determing tone over the internet, so phone helps in that regard.

Same here; it depends on who I'm talking to and the subject of the conversation. Some of my friends, I can talk to for a long time and others, very short and sweet. I've never been much of a talker on the phone;
I prefer talking to people in person (one on one).

I'm glad you like it. I've been looking at the drooling emoticon for years, and he's always just looked more like he's in pain to me, then he is hungry, so I just came up with that. He looks like he's so full of crap, that his bodily functions are coming out the wrong end. LOL!! Like I said in another post, I never know whether I should post the drooling emoticon when I'm hungry, or when I have to take a dump.

My friend and I talked for 6 hours and 45 minutes from 9:30pm - 4:15am.

That's intense! My record is somewhere around 4 hours.
Love the phone, much better than IM/email. I get annoyed online because sometimes it's impossible to read tone.

I'm mostly indifferent about it, but it depends. Sometimes I'll receive an unexpected phone call from a friend and it makes my day, or I'll call someone and we have a short, meaningful conversation. I seldom stay on the phone for very long conversations.

haha ditto. drunk dials are now a regular thing. I normally never have anything interesting enough to say, but when I've been drinking, anything spills out. that can also be a bad thing, tho.

Anyone ever had the experience where you keep telling someone you have to get off the phone, but no matter how much you tell them that, they totally ignore you, and just keep jabbering on, and on, and on anyway? I've actually had this happen to me to the point where I'd have to pretend to keep falling asleep on them, just to get them to let me go. LOL!! Even then, sometimes they wouldn't want to let me go. They'd rather talk to me while asleep, then hang up the damn phone!!

The whole time it was a great conversation, too. And talking online does suck. I absolutely HATE talking to some people just for that exact reason of tone. But there is one of my friends, Kim, who can telll exacty what I mean and how I mean it online becuse she knows me so well.

no, as i prefer talking and conversing with people in person or via email and the internet. i only use my mobile/cell phone when i really have to. particularly if the person's email doesn't work and he/she aren't available to talk to in person.

my sister on the other hand spends like hours every day on her cell phone

A couple of years ago I could just talk and talk on the phone to friends. But after my bestfriend was killed, I don't get into that mood anymore. So it all depends on if I'm really in the mood to sit and talk for a long time.

It's not that I don't like talking on the phone, I just tend to fall asleep or say i'll be back and never come back. I get too distracted so i'd rather talk in person or text.
