Your favorite opening sequence?

I assume we saw them all during this weekend. Only new one (to me) that I saw was the second instrumental theme with the "train" open. I never saw the last version with the lyrics, drat!

Anyway, I feel that the "train" opening will be more popular, but the first version is great too, I like Marlo's billing appearing on the street signs (under a "Curb your dog" sign?!!? :-)) and I like that version of the theme song...as well as the different closing theme...I believe the other seasons just used a reprise of the opening theme.

Of course if I see the version with those lyrics, I might differ on opinion!

that girl had i think one of the best sit com opening sequences, being a new yorker i think it was great. all three versiions of the opening were very good each in a different way, marlo thomas just sparkled.

I prefer the fifth season opening (the train version with lyrics). That has always been my favorite one.

Definitely the train/instrumental opening used in seasons two, three, and four. One of my earliest images of life is seeing Ann's face superimposed over the New York City skyline as she ambitiously looks into her new life. The whole thing just oozed ambition, especially when she looks up at the mannequin in the window. It set the perfect tone for the show and the music was just as classy, just as beautiful, I think.

...to Earle Hagen's classy theme were not heard until the final season (1970-'71), when the final title sequence was created. There were three versions of the theme used in the titles {1966-'67; 1967-'70 [the one EVERYONE is familar with], and the aformentioned one, with lyrics}.
