The Holocaust?

I don't think you can call that a 20th Century idea... People have been trying to wipe the Jews out for a very long time. The Holocaust is simply the closest they've come in recent history.

The Atomic Bomb?

The nuclear bomb is the sole reason that there was not a World War between the Soviet Union and the United States. For that reason alone the nuclear bomb saved untold millions of lives.

As such it can hardly be considered the worst idea of the 20th Century.


... Besides... Can you even consider a scientific reality an "idea"? It's more of a "discovery"... Like fire or electricity.

My reasoning is:

while indeed there have been far too numerous attempts at "ethnic cleansing" throughought history, the manner in which Hitler and his cohorts instituted such radical ideas, IMO, does constitute a 20th-century worst idea.

in terms of the bomb, it lead to nuclear technology...people were inspired by the discoveries and innovated upon them, constituting new ideas--ideas which sparked fear and paranoia throughout the world for the past half century and has caused a new "war--" of all sorts (civil and international).

I wasn't trying to just throw out there some random ideas...I had thought about them actually sincerely previously...

And taxes do suck, but they also can be helpful to lots of people...but, I don't like paying them lol!

there's a difference between Islamism and the Islamic faith in general. Islamism is a murderous and fascist belief system, derived from the writings of Sayed Qutb. This is what DLD was refering to, not islam in general.

Islam is the traditional monotheistic religion.

It's like saying my christianity makes me a follower of christianism.

This board has many muslim members, some of whom I'm sure you've talked to, and I'm sure they don't want to see you harmed, much like my muslim friends don't want to harm me.

I am talking about who or what the whole world is fighting against (which has nothing to do with the Islamic faith, but more with Mussolini's right wing politics!!) and 99% of peeps don't know what side of the political spectrum this enemy is on. I would never refer to any religion as such in that way!! History has shown us that ALL religions have some twisty connections to politics in some way, but that's when I personally wouldn't call them FAITH anymore.....faith is something else that has NOTHING whatsoever to do with churches, mosques, temples, synagogues or any type of clergyman for that matter.
