Here's a little lesson for everyone - never, never, never leave your personal belongings in sight inside a vehicle. If at all possible, lock them inside your trunk or under your seats. This is especially true of these days nearing Christmas. There are just too many damn thieves roaming around.
This is a hard-learned lesson one of my co-worker instructors experienced just today. I heard my boss explaining this to another co-worker. My boss brought it up about 5-6 hours ago. According to my boss, the instructor left her personal laptop as well as a college laptop she checked out from us techs inside her SUV. Now, I am sure she had them both inside their respective laptop soft cover cases. Well, she walked into a McDonald's to order something to-go only to find some minutes later that her SUV was broken into, and both laptops were gone! Yikes!!!!! Since SUVs don't have a trunk for her to have placed them inside, I wonder if there was ample room under the seats to slide these laptops under?
I might imagine how upset and angry she must be feeling. Not only did one of our college laptops get stolen, but she also her own personal laptop. I don't even know if she had personal files or anything backed up from it, but it's sad she lost these items just from a simple break-in.
Don't leave anything. I mean anything. Even if you just have empty boxes spread out, put them in your trunk or even take them home or wherever your destination for these boxes should be. The truth is that it's best to just make your vehicle look as boring as you can to avoid such break-in happening. Make your vehicle appear so boring that will ward off thieves easily. Don't let something like this happen to you.
