Any update on the story of the biker who was hit by a semi, dragged for a long while... then ended up in a ditch while the trucker and a passerby looked for him. The trucker's intent was to kill it would seem, and the cyclist lost a leg but ended up miraculously surviving and then searched down the trucker to no avail.
I am sorry if I asked this previously, I honestly can't recall.

The motorcyclist who was run down was named Jay Durham. I can't find out anything about him on the net so its hard to say if the semi driver was ever caught. Personally I think its a long shot since it had been so long and he probably had a friend or acquaintance fix and possibly even repaint the truck soon after the crime to try and cover it up. Just my opinion. I really hope he's been caught though.

That was definately a case the helped me decide not to ride motorcycles or drive a truck for that matter.
I can't recall the specifics enough to say for certain the guy wanted to kill him, but I always wonder if its possible the guy was dozing, only to be snapped out of it by the sound of metal scraping.
Crystal is right the only hope in solving that case as finding the other trucker who helped the guy pull the motorcyle away from the truck. But if they were partners or buddies with the driver, they may not come forward especially if it was intentional.
The damage to the truck could be explained as an accident to a mechanic.

In any event, it looks to me that it's going to take a fluke to solve this case. Just so that there's no misunderstanding here, this is not to say that it could never be solved; only that the attack on Jay Durham appears to be the type of case that could only be solved through pure luck. Of course, we've seen tougher cases get solved.

Hard to believe that the other trucker could not see what was going on behind him and if he was not involved surely he would have been on his radio phoning the police, my feeling is one of these guys had had a run in with a biker and wanted revenge and picked on this guy at random radioed his friend to tell him what was going on and had every intention of killing him by sandwiching him between the vehicles, the fact they spent several minutes searching for the guy without phoning for help or making any attempt to stop any other motorist indicates they wanted to find him and finish him off

This is one of the segments that makes me incredibly angry every time I see it.
That trucker knew exactly what he was doing and the only reason he pulled over was NOT to help Jay but to remove the motorcycle from the grill of the truck - can't take the chance of leaving any evidence.
Sick, sick world.

As Gorilla Monsoon might say, "highly unlikely." If he had dozed off, the truck would have slowed down or started swerving or both. But it continued driving the same speed in a straight line.
