Is anybody watching the Michael Jackson concert? I think that it's great that Mike and his brothers performed again. I'm really enjoying all the old songs. I hope he does some breakdancing. I love his moves.

I watched Michael Jackson. I loved every
minute of it. I especially liked all the
brothers singing again. Not only did I
watch it, I taped it also. This tape
will not be leaving my possession period.

Last night was SO cool. I really liked how he brought out the jacket, hat, and THE GLOVE. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif lol
It was great. The crowd was just going wild. Brought back a bunch of memories. I always did love his music. I used to be able to do the moonwalk, but don't think I remember how to anymore http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Okay, fess up, who else used to breakdance besides me?

It was on CBS (I think). As for it being on again, I have no idea. However, if you email me, I taped it last night, I don't mind sending you a copy.

Hey Kitt, it was on between 9 and 10 in our time zone (I know that because I remember changing the channel to catch bits of Family Ties on N@N during the commercials...).

I did. Around 1984 and 1985 when I was in first grade I liked to breakdance. I don't remember if I was any good at it or not. I probably wasn't.

Thank you for the offer Ags. Nice to know that you would do that for me. I poked around and found a trusty friend near by who had the forsight to tape it so I'll be all right.

LOL Well, frankly the record player was easier and smaller then the reel to reel (and yes, I still have mine and it still works) http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yeah, I still have my Thiller record and I use to unfold where it looks like a poster and hang it up. I'm not big on Michael Jackson like when he was popular back then, but I'm thinking of get the Off the Wall cd. Has some cool songs on there. There was even an ep. on Diff'rent Strokes, where Kimberly and Willis were dancing to Can't stop till you get enough.
Anyone notice Slash playing guitar in Beat it? He kicked @$$ but, I wish they had Eddie Van Halen playing it, I think he originally did that guitar solo part.

Really? Most of our record players were bigger than our reel to reel, except maybe for my Fischer-Price portable record player. Maybe our reel to reel was a portable version or something. But yes, records are easier.

A reel to reel is a recorder/player that uses these big...well.....reels, lol. Basically, it's like one huge cassette tape, kind of. Hmmm...I don't really know how to explain it. So, here's a picture:
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~bassboy/getreel/thumbnails/correct.jpg
Our reel to reel was a Wollensack.

Our reel to reel is bigger then that. Instead of it being flat, ours is an upright one. I love all of the songs we have on the reel to reel, but we can't listen to it right now because we have to get it fixed. It is dragging the tape http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif Oh well, I'll see if I can find a picture of the one I have.

Actually, our reel to reel is even smaller than the one shown in the picture. However, I have seen those upright ones before. My dad says he has like news reels for the reel to reel, which I think sounds cool, I'll have to listen to them sometime, they'd be from like the 40s and 50s.
This reel to reel conversation is real interesting. I wasn't going to say that, it just slipped out. It is though, honest. I don't remember if I ever had one of those or not. I remember using them at school.

Hey- those of us older folks here are not soooo old that we actually grew up when reel to reels were popular (those are REALLY ancient to me, although I think they're kind of cool). Anyway, I grew up in the 80's, and I'm glad I did. But it's good to hear that you're happy being a child of today http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hehe I would have LOVED to grow up back in the 80's. I only said what I said above, because a CD player looks a lot less confusing then a reel to reel http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
