I think it's really depressing seeing all the fires and eye witneses on TV, when things like this happen you just think that could have been me.

I'm saddened the plane went down, but I'm happy that it isn't a terroist attack. I hope we can get back to normal, but something tells me it is going to be a lot worse before it gets better. I'm sorry to be depressing.... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/crying.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif

I don't think you are being depressing. With people like Bin Laden around things usually DO get worse before they get better. Just have faith.

I just read about the plane crash. Can you believe I didn't know about it until I got on the internet? I think it is very bad. Just another reason for people to fear flying... as if we don't have enough reasons. I am glad it wasn't terrorist related, though.

It most certainly would have gotten on TV if Sept. 11th hadn't happened. Plane crashes always make it on TV. Remember the Concord crash? Or that crash over the Atlantic ocean where all those kids died?

I'm sorry that it happened, but somewhat relieved to hear that is was apparently an accident and not another attack...

I've gotta agree with Bootsy here. Even if Sept. 11th had not happened, this would have made the news because it is a big story because it crashed into homes.

The reaction to the crash however, would most definately be different. Most people's reaction when they first heard about this was that it was terrorism because of Sept. 11th. Prior to then, not too many people would have jumped to that conclusion.

I must admit, I am SO relieved that they are saying that it is not terrorism. I'm glad it didn't happen before last Saturday, because I don't know if I would have flown on to Florida because I flew American Airlines. When things like this happen, it makes you think how precious life really is.

im not saying it wasnt a tragedy couse it was. and i feel bad for all those people going threw this hard time...And the other plane crashes didnt get new york shut down like this one did. and they didnt talk bout them crashes for days. and this one is goin to be on the news for days and days just couse of what happened on 9 11. and the news started talkin bout "o no it might another attack" and everything that happens is not goin to be an attack. so they need to forget about the attack, if a plane crashes ok then talk about it for a couple of hours but not for days at a time. its just annoying i wanna hear other news. im getting sick of hearing bout anthrax and plane's falling out the sky. do yall see my point? or what im getting at? well thanx for your responses i wanna hear what you think bye

When I saw the first pictures of the crash on CNN, my first thought was similar to everyone elses: Oh, no...not another terrorist attack. Sure, I admit that I was jumping to conclusions. But these days with everyone on edge and on alert for terrorist activities, it's easy to see why a lot of people think this way. Sad as it is to say, I'm relieved that it was just some sort of huge mechanical failure. But I also feel sympathy twards all the families of those who were killed.
Another thought crossed my mind too. This crash could not come at a worse time for the airline industry. From what I've read business at the airlines is still down by 30 percent. People are jittery enough as it is about flying, and this crash situation certainly doesnt help, especially since the Thanksgiving holiday is around the corner. The day before Turkey day is traditionally the busiest flying day of the year. I hate to be a pessimist, but rather than flying, I think that a lot of people will be driving, taking the Amtrak or just staying home for Thanksgiving.

I do understand what you are saying, I wasn't trying to get on back or anything before. However, yes, those crashes were on the news for days and days. Maybe not constantly, but as more news trickled in they'd go back to it. The whole Concord thing was on and off the news for probably close to 6 months.

But I do agree with you, especially about anthrax. I am getting pretty sick of hearing about it. The news media just runs this stuff into the ground so much that they almost devalue it because all they do is make us sick of hearing about it. Sometimes for fun I count how many total minutes of my local news is devoted to anthrax, and their desperate attempts to somehow tie anthrax into where I live. I think one night they spent about 15-17 total minutes on anthrax news, out of a 30 min. broadcast.

Yes, CNN and the others aggravate me to distraction with their hype and overkill. I completely understand your complaint. But...I can accept why this crash at this time was being scrutinized. Plus, crashing in Queens at any time is big news. local news casts are embarrasing to watch because of what Bootsy said about them wanting to play too. Between that and the contrived banter, not a lot of substantial news gets reported.

Honey, you don't even know! My father watches all this depressing news all the time. I have to prompt him to turn it to a happy channel.

Its just depressing to sit there and watch it all day long, and it is an everyday thing. I swear I feel like locking myself in the house and never stepping out of the house again.

I understand where you are coming from, because I'm sick of it too. I'm just sick at my stomach that we have to live in constant fear for our life. Peace.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I know the stuff that is going on in the world is scary and all, but I'm not living in constant fear of my life. If it is the media that is making you so fearful, just remember they blow everything out of proportion, and they especially did with this whole anthrax thing. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

I guess I should report in, even as sick as I've been. You have to love it when you live in Queens and stuff like this happens. I HAD to live like close enough to the incident to wonder if I'm gonna actually be IN a tragedy the next time one happens.

Manhattan I was close (enough) and saw it fall...Anthrax hits a mailroom in Rockefeller center, just 7-10 blocks from my work...and now a plane hits 134th st and I live on 120th.

I repeat from earlier, WHEN IS MY LUCK GOING TO RUN OUT? *shudders*

**Gracie**

PS: No, I didn't see it this time, I was in my basement apartment, but I *DID* hear it, and the sirens following.

Well I was in Queens when it did happen monday. Myself and my cousin were about to get on the Williamsburg bridge but it was closed off and then I heard on the radio that there was a crash. We were stuck on the highway for 90 minutes. We tried to go to Manhattan by was of Brooklyn but then the cop told us that all bridges were closed and we should go home. JFK was closed for most of that day so I flew out of NYC Tuesday and am back in Tampa now. I was staying just minutes away from where the accident took place. Whew!
