I never know what face to put with this, because on one hand I want to smile at the new movie of Monsters, Inc...and on the other hand I want to CRY because of the fact that they have made SO MANY SEQUELS and I DON'T WANT ANY MORE!!!!
If you see one cutesy Disney movie, see Monsters, Inc. because it's adorable and makes you "awwwwwww" like a cute little Pixar/Disney movie should.
And can I complain for just a minute? (Stop me. LOL) They made an Aladdin 2 and it was O-K. They made a Lion King 2 and I thought they were going overboard. Along comes The Little Mermaid 2 and I could have died. Lady and The Tramp 2 and I REFUSED TO WATCH IT. Guess what is still in the making? PETER PAN 2 IS DUE OUT ON FEBRUARY 12th and I am PERTURBED!!! Then there's The Jungle Book 2, The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2, and I'm waiting to see if they're going to do SNOW WHITE 2!!!!!

Here's why I'm upset. Hook, my favorite villain (Maleficent being my all time favorite female villain) is NOT THE SAME VOICE. Well there's a reason for it, seeing as Hans Conried is dead and has been dead for almost 20 years, but being the fact that the original cast is all dead but Wendy, I find it sacrilige. (I can't help it that I'm a Hans Conried fanatic...I'm even his official un-official website webmaster, so yeah this is big in my head.) Oh yeah and the other reason is that Peter Pan doesn't lose in the end (I'm sure of it). I mean, hey, it's a Disney flick, would they let Hook win? Doubtful.
Anyways I'm upset and I have to see it, I bet I'm gonna cry when he doesn't win in the end. I almost cried when I saw the preview. Oh well.
Anyone else see Monsters, Inc? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I AM SO WITH YOU! I, being a Peter Pan fanatic, am APALLED that they are making a sequel. I mean, really... They're going to ruin the first one! I'll bet Kathryn Beaumont won't be in it at all (I mean, I understand why she wouldn't be Wendy, seing as how she's in her 60s, but they could give her a small part...)
They just can't do this... can't they come up with original ideas instead of all these sequels? I mean, really, how many have they done? There were sequels to Lion King, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Toy Story, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmations (Live-action one, anyway), and God knows how many more... But.. my poor Peter Pan... it's just wrong. I was upset enough when I saw the first one for the first time and realized how different it was from the play, but it was still fun and original and great... But, this is just ridiculous. In the book the killed Hook anyway, but of course they didn't kill him in the Disney movie. They probably did it on purpose, leaving it open for a sequel. I can see them now, 50 years ago, sitting in a studio saying "Hey, in half a century we may do a sequel!" ::mutters:: Why can't the leave well enough alone? They're going to take away from the first one.

*Look at me, You may think you see who I really am, but you'll never know me. Every day it's as if I play a part. Now I see if I wear a mask, I can fool the world, but I cannot fool my heart. Who is that girl I see, staring straight back at me? When will my reflection show who I am inside? I am now in a world where I have to hide my heart, and what I believe in. But somehow, I will show the world what's inside my heart, and be loved for who I am.

YEAH!
Toy Story 2, Pocahontas 2...like I said, what's next-Snow White 2? Sleeping Beauty 2?
Aladdin had 3 actually. It's just wrong.
Oh and no, I got the cast list so far for it, and Kathryn Beaumont is NOT in it of course. (I am tempted to get a hold of her and ask what SHE thinks about the whole thing...lol, my friend lives in her town!)
Credited cast overview:
Blayne Weaver .... Peter Pan
Harriet Owen .... Jane & Young Wendy
Corey Burton .... Captain Hook
Jeff Bennett .... Smee & Pirates
Lawrence Watson .... Timmy
Kath Soucie .... Wendy
They all have decent credits behind them, and I heard the voices, but really in all reality nothing is going to make me love this movie like I loved the first one...and it may be Hans Conried's face they used (yesh I am still stuck on this), but it will never be his voice. That having been said...I'm going to watch my 45th anniversary edition of Peter Pan with the making of bit at the end now to console myself. *sigh* Pity Disney can't get more original things for cartoons.

Actually they came out with a Snow White 2 years ago. It is called Happily Ever After (I think) I'll check when I go home for lunch and let you know the exact title. It's been awhile since I've watched it and I don't remember the correct name.

Yeah, that's what it's called, and it is a sequel to Snow White, but it was not made by Disney.
I agree with all of you though. The endless sequels and remakes of old movies (That Darn Cat, The Parent Trap, to name a few) is sickening. It's Disney's way of making mega-bucks by doing very very little work, which makes me very irritated, and has irritated me for years. Glad to see I am not the only one that feels this way.

And what about the shows they later make out of them?
Timon & Pumba
The Little Mermaid
Tarzan
Beauty & the Beast (Belle's Corner I think)
Mighty Ducks
Can't They Leave Things That Aren't Broken Alone?
And Now They've Been Using New Animation Styles For The Newer Ones Like "Tarzan", "Atlantas", and "The Emperor's New Groove"....I've only watched one the whole way through ('Groove')

Good point, the TV shows are annoying too. However, I don't mind the changing animation styles. I may not be a huge fan of the period they are in now, but I find the changing Disney animation styles interesting. I love animation, and I like that Disney is willing to explore different styles, unlike say Don Bluth, every movie of which looks exactly the same.
I also have not seen Atlantis or Tarzan, so I can't really judge the animation. However, I really like the animation in Hercules, even though it was very different it was very well done.

Tarzan was not too bad, with the exception of the killing and there being no songs really sung by the characters, but that's my opinion, and lots of people didn't like/liked it more.
Atlantis was WAYYYYYY too far away from the original Disney ideals, I think. The movie was rated PG for crying out loud, and for GOOD reason! (You think Jessica Rabbit was a toon drawn only to be sexy? Ugh...) There was no Disney kiss, no songs worth mentioning til the end credits rolled, and WAY TOO MUCH VIOLENCE for a Disney movie. At least I liked the storyline and the characters a little. *shrugs* Bootsy, see it if you're wondering if it's any good. Get someone else to rent it for ya though. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif
And from what I hear, the only decent sequels was the one Pixar did...aka Toy Story 2. And yeah they made the sequel to Snow White and it wasn't Disney...it wasn't cartoon either. LOL...and I chose not to see that.
At any rate, at least I'm not alone in being pissy about sequels. I'm actually working on a screenplay for the next great Disney movie, but without my friend's help, this may take a while. I figure I'll write it, copyright it, and submit it to them. (With all the work done but the animation and recording, I've heard they could actually take it!)

lol, thanks for the tip about getting someone else to rent Atlantis for me.
The "sequel" to Snow White mentioned above is an animated movie.
Good luck on your next Disney "classic". (The fact that Disney refers to movies that are only a few years old as "classics" also bothers me, lol) http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif

You have got to be kidding me! They should just leave it alone, and don't screw it up for others by making a crappy sequel
