There are many event films coming out this season, especially these two, "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone" and "The Fellowship of the Ring".
Both are adaptions of two insanely popular book series'. Of course, the Harry Potter books have sold over 130 million copies the world over just in the last 4 years. "Lord of the Rings" is widely regarded as the greatest fantasy epic of all time. Always near the top of the 20th Century's best literary works lists.
So, you've probably have seen both trailers, and they both look pretty well done...So I'm asking which one you look more forward to.
I'll start by answering my own question.
It's really a no-brainer, I mean, LotR looks amazing, but I'm a Potterholic. Sorry. Has anyone seen the Quidditch bits? Oh my word!

It's okay, I used to not admit I liked the books and looked forward to the film, but once you realize that you are just one in millions upon millions of people who feel the same way, you're not so afraid being vocal about it.
The weekend of Nov. 16-18th is going to be great! On Friday, I'll see Harry Potter on opening night with a huge group of friends, and then on Sunday I'll watch the FOL reunion. THEN, my birthday is three days after that. I love it! November is looking to be very nice...

From Hell...I've wanted to see that! Lol ever since we went to London last year. We went on this night tour of Jack the Ripper, we saw the places where he murdered people, etc. It was soo interesting. I want to see the movie, but today we were talking about it before school and they said they walked out of the theater halfway through the movie...ahh. I have a pretty strong stomach (disections are my favorite part of school LOL! I think they are sooo cool!) and if in labs we use like pureed liver (we did this lab last week) and everyone was like afraid of it, but I thought it was pretty cool..haha well maybe I will see From Hell sooon, hopefully http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Ok, first to Cokies question....
I have never read either of the book series, but from what little I know about them I think I lean towards Harry Potter.
Other movies I am looking forward to are Monsters, Inc. and there was one called like Ice Age or something, I saw the trailer for it and it was absolutely hilarious! I think it's gonna be another Disney computer animated flick.
As for From Hell.....go! I liked it alot. I was very well done, and Johnny Depp is way cool. It is really not all that bad or graphic. There was this one old couple who walked out about 15 minutes into the film, but I think the part they took offense at was the scenes of the prostitutes having sex in the streets. But to that I say they just can't come to terms with reality....because prostitutes did have sex in the streets of London in that time, so if they don't want to face reality, it's their loss. The movie did a great job of showing what life in London at that time was like.

lol, well now I am going to feel bad if you get grossed out. Ok, to warn you, there are many scenes where you see women laying in pools of blood, there is one scene where you see a throat cut, and one very bloody scene that involves ol' Jack the R. holding a human heart in his hands. I think that's the worst of it....
I don't feel bad telling you that, it's not like I gave anything away since we all know what Jack the Ripper did. But I wanted to warn you so you don't get pissed if it is too graphic for you! My mom got a little squeamish at parts, but she just put her head down until I said it was ok.

I like that you saw the movie with your mom. My daughter and I like to go to movies together. Also, Johnny Depp rates as one of my favorites since I saw " What's the Matter With Gilbert Grape." Remember that one?

BOOTSY! I was gonna say....DANG! lol, my friend Steph went and saw From Hell and said it was wayyyyyy too graphic for her, so I was almost gonna ask if you saw the same movie.
I definitely want to see it because I have a thing about evil...it's just...well...cool! Not that I would/could do anything like that, I just think it's cool. And I have yet to see a movie that's considered "horror" that I haven't died LAUGHING at. I never really get scared, because I was raised on the old b/w movies and taught from a YOUNG age that it's "only a movie" and though it could happen (or DID happen) what I'm seeing on a film doesn't frighten me.
Kewlies, eh? I'm just a freak that way.

Me and my mom see movies together pretty frequently, which works out well, because there are tons of movies I want to see, but the kinds of movies my friends want to see my mom wouldn't want to see, but some of the movies I want to see my friends wouldn't like, but my mom usually does.
Anyway, I have never seen "What's eating Gilbert Grape", but I do love Johnny Depp. I saw Blow last year, but I've liked him long before that. I don't think my mom was too familiar with him, but she kept commenting about what a "good looking young man" he was.
