Oh lordy, I remember watching The Monster Squad until I could crack. It's my brother's favorite movie of all time. I have to split movies up by decades, so I'll start in the 70's.
The 1970's
Most of the slasher movies.
1980's
The Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles
Airplane!
Vacation
European Vacation
9 to 5
Repossessed
1990's
The Naked Gun [Part 2 only]
It's Pat
Vegas Vacation
The Beverly Hillbillies
Most comedies.

omg!!! NOT THE GOONIES!!!! AHHHH! DUMBEST movie in history! I'd say for 2000 M:i-2 is the best movie, and the 90's Matrix or SOTL (Silence of the lambs).and 80's...hmmm that's tough. not alot of great movies then, lol, I'm gonna say (Just cause I'm a jodie foster freak) "The Accused".

The T, how can you say the 'Goonies' is the worst movie of all time? And then you go on to say 'M-I-2' was the best of 2000! I'm appalled! X-Men was the best of 2000! Gladiator was majorly better than 'M-I-2'!
I HATED 'M-I-2'! The only cool part is when he almost gets stabbed in the eye. That's it!
The first one was alright though...
callmetootie- 'Monster Squad' is a great film... man, I could quote that film for hours on end...
And I mostly agree that your list of films are good ones...

In this writers opinion the best movie of all time is The Godfather, part II a close second. Favorite line:" Leave the gun, take the canoles"

Maybe it's because I was soooo in love with Michael J. Fox, but Back to the Future was the best movie in 1985.
Movies today are kind of crap compared to 80's teeny-bopper movies. Molly Ringwald is way cooler than Jennifer Love Hewitt.
The T

Cokies Maybe M:i-2 wasn't the best of 2000 (It was in my opinion but I'm a big action fan) but I certainly do think it should be compared to the goonies! I mean, I watched it when I was 10 years old and hated it, so I don't think it's an age thing. I agree, Gladiator was a great movie. But in my opinion it wasn't better than M:i-2, maybe Oscar-quality yea (obviously) but not by my ratings. Sorry we disagree!
The T
04-03-2001, 03:35 PM
Oh! And X-men, that was pretty cool too, I will agree with you on that. I just don't htink it was better than M;i-2, It was good, and worth seeing, but not one I would want to watch over and over.

The T-
Yeah, yeah, you're right 'The Goonies' and 'M-I-2' aren't in the same league, and it's odd we have finally disagreed on something. We usually agree on everything...
Oh I don't know, ' M-I-2' was just a fun popcorn movie, and it wasn't as good as the first one, which I love.
Coily-
I highly agree with you about how today's teen movies suck compared to the classics of the 80's.
And I hate Jennifer Love Hewitt...A LOT.
I'd say Julia Stiles is most like the Molly Ringwald in today's world...( just see '10 Things I Hate About You', probably the best teen movie in a loooooooong while).
And 'Back To The Future' is an utter classic!
I remember see the third one( not nearly as good as the first one) in the theater and having the BIGGEST crush on Micheal J. Fox, I must of been seven years old or something...
Of course, i'm the one with the stashed DeLorean in my backyard.... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif

Here are MY favourite movies -
Stand By Me (this is my all-time favorite)
Akira
Fight Club
Go
American History X
Angel Heart
I also love The Goonies (although I wouldn't class it as an all-time favorite of mine). It reminds me of when I was little cos I used to watch it all the time as a kid. I like most 80's movies with Corey Feldman in 'em. The Lost Boys is another good Corey movie.

Cokies-yea you're right, good popcorn movie. I don't really think that M:i-2 and M:i should be compared either...well, yea you're right they should, they are part of a "set" I guess. I think they are both very different, I LOVED the tough plot in M:i but also loved the action in M:i-2, which had almost no plot. So again, I think it's a taste issue. I also think it's really cool that they made the two missions totally different, and had nothing to do with each other, I really look forward to the 3rd one, to see what they'll come up with!!

I'd have to agree the Goonies was and still is a great movie. I just loved Chunk and Sluth. Wasn't Chunk the kid that bugs Nat in Summer of 84. Also I liked Back to the Future. ( love the time machine) Also I had a crush on Michael J. Fox. Nancy was lucky she got to date him.

Sorry, but I really must voice my contempt for this extremely overrated movie. I mean, c'mon - call that a 'twist ending'??? I'd figured out how was gonna end about 2 minutes into the movie - it was sooooo obvious!
I agree that Haley Joel is a very talented actor considering his age but 'The Sixth Sense' was a big disappointment for me.

Well ok. Maybe you didn't like the movie. I really did!! I thought it was great! We all have different opinions on this message board I think we should be able to express them. Yeah, definitely the original. I saw the remake and really didn't like it. The fact that it was a shot for shot remake didn't help. I didn't mind the Planet of the Apes remake because it was different than the original but this was exactly the same. I don't know why they wanted it shot for shot, I mean what's the point if you have the original. It must be for people who don't like watching black & white movies. Vince Vaughn I didn't buy as Norman because he looked to big and normal. Anthony Perkins is Norman Bates as far as I'm concerned. He had a creepy quality to him which Vaughn didn't. The only person I can think of that might have been good is Jeremy Davies. He was in Saving Private Ryan as the weak Corporal Upham. I must admit that it was somewhat interesting to watch out of curiosity but it just didn't work for me.
