Did you guys know that back in 1983, he was the SNL (Saturday Night Live) host, with musical guest Duran Duran?

Did anyone see this episode, and if so, did they do a "Benson" skit? (I'm assuming they did!) :D

Original airdate was March 19, 1983. Robert Guillaume was only in three skits (not counting the opening monologue), and none of them were Benson skits.

Thanks for the info--that stinks they didn't do a Benson skit; I think it would have been pretty funny.

He was originally supposed to host in March 1981, but the show was cancelled due to the fact that the producer had been fired and the show went on hiatus for a month. This was the season after Lorne Michaels left and his replacement had turned SNL into a creative disaster area.

Reruns from the first five seasons. It was a welcome relief at that time - for a while, the real SNL was back.

I believe they did, but I think that was mid-to-late eighties.

All they seem to be concerned with are the recent reruns, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I wish they'd farm out older reruns to other stations so us old people could see the classic stuff.

I'm just basing what I wrote on what they actually show. Before they got the rights to air the more recent seasons, E! actually showed some of the classic '70s shows and even did a marathon where they showed some early '80s shows.

I'd love to see those '80s shows again...they'd almost be new, being as I haven't seen them since, well, the '80s!
