I found the opening credits from March 1986, very different than the one on this site!

It also has the 1979-86 version of the NBC peacock in the stereo box, it also has the boys riding on bikes down the street, instead of them playing basketball that was seen in S2 and it even includes the ending as well.

It's right here at:

That's the original openig credits. I know they syndicated Valerie/Hogan Family/The Hogans as "The Hogan Family", but I would have thought since it is abcfamily, that they would show these credits, rather than the trimmed down version, with The Hogan Family title in it.

However, the closing credits were from S2, b/c the font is version #2 and that it's from early 1987.

It's too bad that you won't see these credits anymore on ABC Family.

That's why I hate sitcoms on ABCFAMILY. They NEVER show the closing credits.

I think it sucks the way they do credits also, but Pax's way of doing THF's credits was much worse. While ABC Family shows the guest stars and so forth for each individual episode, Pax never did. They just used generic credits. They also only used one copyright date. I believe it was 1986. Though the network that I think treats its credits the absolute worst is GSN. For most of their older shows, credits arent even shown at all 90% of the time, and if they are it's in a small rectangular box that's barely legible.

Also like I said in another thread, I liked how the opening on Valerie's era was much less cheesy looking, comparing the Valerie football to the baseball used on most of Sandy Duncan's era.

In syndication, I've only seen one episode of the Harper era to use the Valerie title. That episode was "Bad Timing." It also had a parental warning at the beginning of the episode, probably the same slide that was seen on NBC.

It definitely is. I've seen that clip before and James Avery was one of the guest stars. The episode he guested in was season 2's "Hogan vs. Hogan."

I was surprised that they didn't bungle up the closing credits on Boy Meets World, b/c they managed to leave the closing credits alone on that show.

But why they couldn't do the same on their other shows?

I think Lifetime uses generic closing credits for their sitcoms too. I remember the crappy Laverne and Shirley, Suddenly Susan, and now Reba's closing credits.

I think the new "I" Network shows the regular closing credits. PAX has improved. I'll have to watch an episode of Mama's Family tonight to see if they show the credits.

It's been a while since I've watched this show, but I believe on a lot of the BMW episodes, there's still a segment over the credits.

It seems like from the clip you linked to, it's a season 1 opening with season 2 credits.

I've seen both Mama's Family and Charlie's Angels on i and they do show the original credits to the show, however they're splitscreened.

Damn! Like how N@N does their closing credits? Oh well, I guess it's better than no closing credits.

The reason why they show the Boy Meets World end credits is because they roll the credits while a scene is still going on, for almost all the episodes....With Family Matters and Step by Step, they show the tag, and then show the credits. I don't know. They're dumb.

Btw, what font was the closing credits from S1 in?

I found a video of the original S1 closing credits from the very first ep. "Old Enough."

The font in S1's closing credits is "indeed" the same as the main and in-episode titles that was used throughout S1. Plus, the only the very first ep. has the original 1978-86 Lorimar "Line of Doom" logo.

Otherwise, it would always end w/ the Lorimar-Telepictures logo.

I've seen the syndicated version of the season 1 opening credits several times, however I've never seen the unedited version of these credits (with the Valerie nor with The Hogan Family logos).

Does anyone have the unedited version of the season 1 intro with either title?

I'm sorry Mega Man. I tried watching it on You Tube last night, but every time you click that link it informs me that "This video has been removed by the user."

Here's one that works, it also has the season 2 theme, and seasons 1 & 2 ending theme.

Awesome! I've watched this show for nearly 18 years and never once have seen the unedited season 1 credits! Thank you for that contribution!

I first started watching when the show was called Valerie's Family... I remember thinking "who in the heck is Valerie?" I didn't know until syndication in the 90's who Valerie was... so that finally made sense. However, even though I watched Valerie's Family and The Hogan Family originally on NBC, I can't remember if they aired TV show station identifications (like they did in the first season of Valerie). I remember ALF did, as well as a lot of the shows in the late 80s and early 90s.

Does any one recall what the station identification tags (that usually aired during the middle commercial break) looked and sounded like for Valerie's Family and The Hogan Family? Were they used throughout the entire series, just the NBC episodes, just the first season?

- Curious,
Chazz
