I think he will, he is so far ahead of the pace and barring injury he will reach and pass it in September. I wonder how many times the Cardinals are going to walk him this series?

I doubt it.

Even though I am a huge Giants fan, I don't think Barry will do it. Yes, his pace is going well, but I doubt Barry will stay steady with this pace. Knowing him... he can never pull through in the clutch.

Walk Walk Walk Walk....

Anyway, barring dumb@$$ pitchers walking him, I think he can hit, oh, 72...

I don't think he will, although it will be close I think. But I do hope he wins a World Series before his career is over!

Yes! The whole Giants baseball team deserves a World Series appearance. All's to hoping...

It is a posibility. If he up his pace, he'll have 87 homers by the end of the season.

Let's not forget, he's never hit 50 in a season.

Its possible. Remember, they said that nobody would EVER break Babe Ruth's record, and Roger Maris proved them wrong. Then, it was said that nobody would EVER break Maris' record, and it course, it was broken. Never say never.

I thought of something. If facts serve me right, it was 31 years between Ruth hittng 60 and Maris hitting 61. Then, it was 31 years between Maris Hitting 61 and McGwire hitting 70. If that holds up, the record will be broken in 2029

bonds has 54 thriugh 123 games mcgwire only had 47. bonds will get it. antways i dont want mcgwire holding the record. all he can do is hit homeruns his average sux.

No one would be breaking any records if there were some decent pitchers out there!Babe Ruth would be hitting 100 home runs or more a year these days!Do I sound skeptical? Yes!!!!!!!!!

I hope Bonds doesn't even come close to the record. McGwire just broke the record 2 years ago. I'd rather see a record that's been around longer broken. Like the hit streak one. DiMaggio is a punk.

I dunno. I don't know Barry Bonds too much but I've been to one of Mark's games and he hits the balls to the ceiling...that doesn't mean much though.

I really don't think that Bonds will break McGwires record this year.

Um okay, I think I was wrong about that. Now I'm almost positive that Bonds will break the record this year.

No not yet. At the time of this post he still needs one homerun to tie the record.
