There have been a few movies that I've seen over the years that have made me cry but there is only one that never fails to bring a tear to my eye and that's 'Stand By Me'. Every time I watch the final scene where Chris walks off into the distance and disappears.... It's just really sad - especially after what happened to River Pheonix in real life (bit of trivia - he had the same birthday as me, August 23rd!)
I guess it's cos this film is just so close to the experiences I had in my own childhood that it always strikes a chord with me. And the Ben E. King song that plays throughout the film....beautiful!
I love that movie!

On April 24, 2008, Dana and I are going to meet in LA and handcuff ourselves to Nancy McKeon and Jay Harrington, and you're not. And by the way...this is our own original idea and we do not appreciate people copying us. So don't.

Jinny: Oh, come on, folks, please, don't be shy. Apparently anyone is welcome to crap all over me tonight, so please, step right on up!

Freddy: Now your gonna need a nut doctor!

Darrell: Listen, I don't know what kind of greasy, rubber nigga your sleepin' with...

"Patch Addams" WAS incredibly sad. I bawled. The movie "Jack" made me cry, as did "Awakenings". And Disney's "Tarzan". Oh, and "Pay it Forward".

Ok, I have to admit, I cried during Titanic. But that's NOT because of Leo dying, I swear!

The movie I bawled at was Glory. That movie gets me every time. So does E.T.

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

I can only remember crying in 2 movies. Top Gun when Goose dies. That gets me every time.

The other was Pearl Harbor. I started crying during the attack when a bomb came through one of the ships and landed in the galley and then blew up as the sailor was standing there.

The reason I cried during that scene is because it brought back memories, a fresh wound that was not totally healed yet. You see, a friend of mine that I have known since Junior High was on the USS Cole. He was a cook on the Cole and was killed in the attack. That scene in Pearl Harbor brought back to many memories.

Just had to add my 2 cents again-

I thought it was kind of funny in The Tracey Thurman Story that Dale Midkiff's character was Buck Thurman- then in 1998 he was Buck Wilmington in The Magnificent Seven. That was pretty weird that he has had 2 Buck characters in his career.

I agree with whoever said Airbud. I can't even watch that movie, it's too sad.

I also have to add Sweet Charity at the end. OMG, the end is just SO depressing...

K, in the first place, I cry at just about every movie I see at one point or another. LOL, but one movie that made me ball (now don't laugh) was Homeward Bound. I swear, everytime the boy looks out for Shadow to come running up then he starts to walk away and he's like, "He was just too old," then Shadow comes hobbling up the hill and the kid turns around and is like, "Shadow? Shadow!" I'm a sucker for animals.

Another one that made me REALLY cry, too, was the Way We Were. Yup, I'm a Streisand fan, too.

But I cry at everything, lol. Oh, well, nothing wrong with being in touch with your emotions. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

In "The Sixth Sense" when the boy told his mother that his grandma told him (from the outer world) that she loved her. His mom broke down. So did I.

I never actually cry in movies, I just get that painful lump and tears.

3 movies have given me that reaction:

Old Yeller
Anne of Green Gables
Selena

I usually find that the saddest movies for me are those based on real events. Schindler's List, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan were all really sad. Did anyone see the made-for-TV movie about Anne Frank that was on recently? It was an excellent movie but extremely sad, I was bawling.

I did. I've read her diary and Anne Frank The Biography and a book by Miep Gies, the woman who helped the family while in hiding. I have the video tape of the original Anne Frank movie from 1959 or '60. Also another video where Miep Gies and others who knew Anne Frank tell their story. Anne Frank wrote a book of short stories while in hiding called, "Tales From the Secret Annex" which I've read. Anne Frank has been an inspiration to me because of her courage and her writing. The diary is a remarkable book and even more so for a person so young in such an extraordinary situation.

I cried in Patch Adams, and I cry during the part in Field of Dreams where Ray and his dad are playing catch. Oh, I forgot about Homeward Bound! I cried at that, too.

I also cried several times during A League of Their Own. Especially the part about Betty's husband, and the end with Kit and Dottie after the game, and at the Hall of Fame. (I'm trying not to give anything away to people who haven't seen it...)
