During which years do most of your
favorite tv shows and music come from?

1960's: Great music, Descent Television.
1970's: Great music, Great Television.
1980's: Terrible music, Mediocre Television.
1990's: inconsistent music, below par TV.

The 1970's as far as both music (except disco of course) and TV consistancy goes was the best Decade followed closely by the 60's, the 90's in 3rd, while the 1980's are in an all too distant 4th! As far as entertainment is concerned the 1980's where an all time low!

Well my favorite band is Aerosmith so my favorite music spans the 70s, 80s, 90s, and present day, since they are still around and still kickin' butt.

Otherwise, I generally prefer "classic rock" of the late 60s-70s. I do enjoy alot of 80s pop, but I prefer classic rock.

As for TV....my favorite TV shows come mostly from the 90s...Simpsons (or was that late 80s? not sure, but most of it's run has been in the 90s), Law and Order, the X-Files, the Critic, the Daily Show, BattleBots, and so on and so on. I'm also a huge Star Trek fan, which spans all of those decades, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and present day. (unless you don't count the movies...there was no new ST on TV in the 70s, but there were reruns).

As far as music goes, I like SOME music today, but I LOVE 70s music!! I also like 50s and 60s music-the Beatles! NO 80s MUSIC!!! The 80s were wrong! the only good thing that happened in the 80s was my birth http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif lol jk jk!

80's all the way. What is all of this that the music in the 80's was bad. 80's were GREAT. You had The Beasties Boys, Styx, Aerosmith, Air Supply, The Bangles, Billy Idol, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Billy, Joel, The B-52's, The Chameleons, Cyndi Lauper, Commodores, Duran Duran, D.J. Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, Def Leppard, El DeBarge, The Go-Go's, Guns N' Roses, George Michael, Kiss, Madonna, Men At Work, Michael Jackson, New Kids on the Block, Poison, The Police, Public Enemy, Sting, Salt-N-Pepa, Samantha Fox, Stacey Q, Tiffany, Twisted Sister, U2, Van Halen, Wham!, Yes, ZZ Top.

Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. 80's music rocked. (Yes I grew up in the 80's)

A day that will never be forgotten because WE will not let it be forgotten.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the friends and families involved in these horrendous acts against humanity. They will NEVER be forgotten. We will NOT let the terrorists cause terror all across our great nation. We will continue, and we WILL survive.

See, this is what I don't understand. I am by definition a yuppie. My husband and I make a ton of money and as a result, live life to excess. People often consider it greed, I just consider it prosperity. What is so bad about excess and greed anyway? Bootsy, leliem, this is your que. I had an opinion on this when I was an academic and idealistic type - I'm sure you do to and I'd love to hear it.

Anyhow, growing up in the 80s, they weren't that great. You'll have to trust me on this one! It wasn't what it seemed to be in all those John Hughes movies....

Edited because after all my years in school, I never learned that "u" usually follows "q".

Well after all my years in school, I still don't know what a que is. Wasn't in my dictionary either. But anyway....

I don't find anything wrong with prosperity or living your life to excess, as long as you are not living beyond your means. If someone wants to live beyond their means, that's their perogative, I just don't think it's a good idea.

Personally, I have a problem with greed, especially in excess. Everyone is just a little bit greedy, whether it has to do with money or the last slice of pizza. But I don't think being too greedy is a good thing.

I don't think it's a big deal to be a yuppie anymore. In fact, I think most people strive to be one, whether they think of it as being a yuppie or not. I think the word simply has left-over negative connations from when punk-teenagers used it in the '80s. Really, I think no one cares anymore.
