View Full Version : Do you Think Season 5 Will See the Light of Day?

Season 5 of NewsRadio was obviously the least popular of the series. Without Phil Hartman, as the series continued to progress, it seemed to get stranger and stranger, losing any aspect of reality whatsoever. The more insane episodes from this season, though very odd, were also funny in and of themselves.
Do you think that Sony will release this season on DVD, or do you think it would be a pre-destined write-off? After all, it is this season that determined its cancellation by NBC. What do you think?

I'm 99% sure that Season Five will get released by Sony. And besides, this season, ratings-wise was higher than both season three and four. I'm not quite sure why NBC cancelled it when they did. Although if they did bring it back, I doubt it would have gone past season six.
Sony did a speedy job getting seasons 3 and 4 out, that it must be a good sign for season 5. I'm sure even the average fan would buy the set. If not for the episodes, then for the bonus features.
Also, in the season four commentary, Paul Simms gave us a website to send our questions to and he said they would answer some of them on the next DVD. So that's a good sign as well. :)

I forgot all about that!!! I think that if they're taking questions then there will be a season 5 release. Why release 4 out of 5 season anyway? That just doesn't make sense. I can't wait for season 5 to come out so I can finish off my Newsradio DVD set. I absolutely LOVE this show!!

It doesn't make sense to a fan, but it's all business oriented. I mean, it's interesting that shows like Too Close for Comfort only released seasons one and two, and two years have passed and there is no third season. And Green Acres. They released season one in 2004 and seasons 2 and 3 in 2005. There was nothing in 2006 and there aren't any projections at the moment for 2007.
It all depends on the money they rake in.
If they put a show on DVD, and it does not sell, then fans will only have access to what is already out there.
I for one am sick and tired of waiting on some of these studios. I bought the first four seasons at Best Buy and am getting a little impatient with season 5, so I'm recording them off of satellite and making DVDs out of them in case there isn't enough support to release it on DVD commercially.

Season Five is coming out on March 20th, so it's not that long of a wait.
