View Full Version : So, has syndication killed a boxset purchase for you?

For me it has and it hasn't. I have bought a couple I said I wouldn't b/c I hit a "lull" and thought I'd splurge for a sure-fire hit. Well, that was a good thought but Seinfeld as broadcast on Channel 5 in LA 3 times a day 5 days a week of which I watched for about 4 years straight will forever (I fear) be the best written "ugh" I've bought. I'm on S4 right now and I'd swear I've seen every one of these 100 times. I Love Lucy I bought over the weekend (S1) and after the first disc I felt like it was 9am in LA on CH11 which this thing ran for had to be 200 years. Sadly, some of the best written shows for me are just DEAD. I'd rather buy a lesser show that is fresh than something I can practically recite:(
Anything been ruined for you?

Roseanne I can't really stand it not that I hate it. It's just on too much and I got bored of it. So I stoped buying roseanne after season 2. But I havnen't totally gave up.
It's mainly the opposite for me. Buying dvds has stopped me from watching syndicated shows. For instance, when I watch Lifetime and The Golden Girls airs, if it's any episode from the first four seasons I won't bother to watch because I know I have it on dvd and can watch it whenever I want.
I do agree with freshprinceofLA though. I've seen enough of Roseanne, but I couldn't help but to take advantage of the buy-one-get-one-free sale at deepdiscountdvd.com for Roseanne seasons 3 and 4. That's about $12.00 per set.
