TV LAND currently has a promo running, promoting a marathon of STAR TREK that they'll be showing on 9/8 for the shows 40th anniversiary. They say that THAT GIRL also started on the same night, 9/8/66.

Did it? I know it started in 1966; but was it also on 9/8? (which was a Monday; in case anyone cares. And for all you other trekys; ST was on at 7:30)

I like Star Trek,my husband LOVES it. Even tho,we have everything, every generation of star trek,we'll probably watch anyway. He even has The orginal chess set, that they had on the set. It hard to play, let alone follow the directions.
Me,I always wanted to grow up & be just like ANNE MARIE.

...September 8th, 1966 fell on a THURSDAY. That night, NBC presented a "sneak preview" of "STAR TREK", in "DANIEL BOONE"'s 7:30pm(et) time period {"The Man Trap"}, before its "official" premiere the following week in its regular time slot [8:30pm, beginning with "Charlie X"]. That same evening, ABC kicked off its new Thursday night line-up with first-run episodes of "BATMAN" [7:30], "F TROOP" [8:00], and "BEWITCHED" [9:00], and the premieres of "THE TAMMY GRIMES SHOW" [8:30], "THAT GIRL" [9:30], and Burt Reynolds' "HAWK" [10pm]. ABC decided to debut their 1966-'67 season a week earlier than the other networks, beginning on September 6th. This is probably why NBC gave "STAR TREK" its premiere a week ahead of its "debut" ["Soon! The galaxy premiere of "STAR TREK"...rocketing in to 'NBC WEEK'! The first adult science-fiction series blasts off Thursday, September 15th!!"- Fred Collins, announcing the 15 second film promo of "STAR TREK" just two weeks before its "premiere"].
