View Full Version : Which S.O. members remind you most of yourself??

Brad Russ

I started a thread quite awhile back, asking which S.O. members most reminded you of each other? Now I thought I'd ask the question, what S.O. members remind you the most of yourself, and in what ways do they remind you of yourself?? I see bits and pieces of myself in many many members here, and there are many things I see in people here that I wish I had in myself, but there are three people in particular, who I see alot of myself in.

One of those people is Jen. Jen joined this site at about the same time I did in early 2002, and for the longest time, we were pretty much dead even in the amount of posts that we posted up. I use to pretend her and I were in a race, and I'd look at her post amount, and one week I'd be ahead of her, and the next week she'd be ahead of me. And it literally went on back and forth like that for like a year. Also, the first board she ever posted on, was the Family Ties board, which was the first board I ever posted on, and one of the only boards I posted on for the longest time. Also, I think she is the one person I know of, who's a bigger fan of FT than me, and that's really saying something. Aside from those things, Iv'e noticed alot of things about her that remind me of myself, and anytime I can compare myself to her, I think that's a cool thing!!

Another person who I believe is alot like me, is Janice. I pretty much bonded with her quicker than anyone Iv'e ever met online, and she immediately became my best online friend ever!! Her and I do disagree on things sometimes, but for the most part, I think we are very similar in many ways, and share lots of the same interests. For one thing, we're both very similar politically. She was a democrat up until 2001 before becoming a Republican, and I also considered myself to be a democrat until about 2002, when I switched parties, and became a Conservative. Also, we enjoy alot of the same kind of movies, and music. She's always the first one I tell, when I see a great movie, or the first one I'll send a link to when I hear a great song, because I know that there's a great chance that she'll like it too. Sometimes when I read a message I get from her, I almost feel like I'm reading my own words, because she says the exact things that I'm thinking. So, Janice is a very special person in my life, and is very much like me in many ways. I'm happy to call her a friend!! :)

Lastly, but certainly not leastly, is Irene. Just like Janice and Jen, I felt a strong connection with her immediately, because I saw alot of myself in her. One thing I absolutely adore about Irene, is her guts. She's probably one of the most outspoken people Iv'e ever met, and is not at all afraid to mix it up with people, and share her views, even when she knows that alot of people will disagree with her. She is much more like that than I am, but I'm also someone who can be very outspoken at times, even though I do probably bite my tongue alot more than she does. She has lots of guts though, and isn't afraid to speak up, even if it means disagreeing with a friend, and I respect that greatly!! Another way her and I are alike, is that we're both very passionate when it comes to our Faith, and will defend it with our lives. She always speaks up when someone disrespects her Faith, and I think that's awesome. Irene is also one awesome lady, who I truly think the world of. :)

So anyway, what about all of you?? Which S.O. members remind you most of yourself, and in what ways are they like you??

P.S. This isn't intended to be a popularity thread, just an honest question asking who reminds you of yourself. So, for anyone thinking this is a popularity thing, you're wrong. This is a question Iv'e been meaning to ask, and have been curious about for quite awhile now.

Hmm, quite a few people, actually. I wouldn't say any one person reminds me exactly of myself, but there are people here I think remind me of certain traits I have.

Like, for example, I think Matt and Irene have the same outgoing, random, loud humor I do :) We're also very open people.

Mona (swedeace) and Sharop (sorry, I don't know your first name, sweetie!) are very loyal, sensitive people and value friendships, and I see myself being that way a lot of the time. I read swedeace's posts and it just reminds me of something I'd type :)

First of all Lauren (Maguires Lady) reminds me a lot abt myself. She and I PM each other and have gotten to know each other "very well"...we have a vast difference in ages, BUT! she and I are on the same level as far as men are concerned, we relate to each other as ladies in many ways...she feels comfortable opening up to me and I do the same with her. She has this funny sexual humor that is so similar to mine. I could go on and on.

PZelda...Allison...she is so damn blunt and honest. She makes me laugh so much. I love to make people laugh, so does she. She and I have PM'd each other as well and have had many "talks" that I feel comfortable with.

Kelly Ketchup. Again, she is waaay younger than me, but we connect on the same level. Me and her share the same type of humor. She can also speak her mind when needed to...something I like to do.

Brad Little Mel: Me and Brad share the same views on our faith. I have shared problems with him and he has with me as well. I can connect with him because I know that his faith and love for our Lord and God is the same as mine. He isn't afraid to talk abt his faith. I am glad to have found that connection with someone on the SO boards. Usually a message board is not a place you can easily find someone like that, and I am grateful to Brad for his views and speaking up abt them. I know that he has my back on those same views and I will have his back as well. We are TIGHT! It's like me and him are two peas in a pod.

Btw, cool avatar. How did you include Homer Simpson in an avatar with Archie Bunker? I guess there's a way to cut/paste or something like that.

Hey, no problem Jen. Everything I said was the truth!!

I actually didn't have to do anything to make this avatar, someone already made it for me. I just did a yahoo picture search for Archie Bunker, and it was one of the pics that popped up. Since I'm also a big Homer fan, I knew it had to be my next avatar.

Well, gosh. Let's see.

- Katie (Cashodeen). I dunno... She and I have dealt with a LOT of similar things in our lives. Moving, boys, college, whatnot. On the rare occasion she comes online, we talk for literally hours. We enjoy a lot of the same stuff. :) And our birthdays are close together. Not SUPER-CLOSE, but we're two weeks apart, both August birthdays, and she has almost exactly two years on me.

- Irene (Ireneparalegal). We are alike in a lot of ways. I'll most likely be like her when I'm in my 40's, because we have such similar personalities. We both like telling it like it is. And I feel really comfortable talking to her in private. I can tell her how my night was and share some of the details, or talk to her about whatever, and she won't act like a prude, because she's not a prude.

Some other people I feel have some similarities to me...

- Tim (Mr. Stefani). He has a FAR more aggressive personality (and let's admit it, you like your booze a little too much, Tim ) than me... but I dunno what it is about him, but we get along really well, which is funny, considering we pretty much hated each other's guts when I first came here. He says just what is on his mind, and he really doesn't give a **** what anybody else thinks after he says it. I'm like that too, but not all the time like him.

- Doc (Dr. Jazz). He leads such a fascinating life...He always has a story to share every time we talk, and his stories are always really fascinating. We get along really well, and always razz each other with inside jokes (Hey, Doc, if you read this... ORANGE POPSICLES!!! Craving one yet?). He is a wise guy...He has pretty much seen and done it all.

- Sonny (I Walk The Line). We like so much of the same shows, it's not funny. He's actually gotten me to start watching a few shows on DVD that I either forgot about, or have never seen. Our DVD collections are waaaay different and he likes FAR more shows than I do (and I like a LOT of shows), but really... we like a lot of the same shows, like I mentioned before. I can say something totally random when we start talking, and then you've got a full-blown conversation. We're just awesome like that.

I like just about everybody else, I'm sorry I couldn't name all of you guys. :( But the above mentioned are the ones I get along REALLY well with.

BUT, if I have to name one person...I would have to say Kate (Little Insomanic); we like the same kind of guys, have the same tastes, etc.; and she and Sonny (I Walk the Line) have been the closest to me on this board for the last three and a half years (I love you, guys); another person, would have to be Brad (Little Mel); he is definitely one of the nicest people I have ever met (via the internet) and we share a common bond of not being afraid to devoted to the Lord, etc.; and we are both highly intelligent, and very sensitive and caring (basically good people)..If you are reading this Brad (I love you, too):)

Okay, that was more than one person..LOL;)

I don't think I'm as spontaneous and outspoken as Irene, but I feel that our views about life, and our general likes and dislikes are pretty close.

MONA-I have only just gotten to know you over the last couple of months, but you remind my a great deal of myself. You seem really sensitive to what others think of you, you have a big heart and you also tend to be a little too hard on yourself.
